The Sleep Help Mumma Update

I have previously addressed the silence on my page of late but for those that may have missed its basically a situation where life has seen quite a few changes and challenges for my little family of late and this has lead to a shift in my life which includes this little hobby of mine. I have loved helping those families I have worked with and still have a passion for helping ease the struggles mums face. However I dont currently feel I have capacity to continue with TSHM.

I am wanting to simplify, prioritise my children and decrease any additional mental capacity I can so I can focus on the most important parts of my life and for this I am sad to say that TSHM will be closing. When I am not 100% sure of but I will say by the end of the financial year.

Now, if you have been on the fence about getting some help for your little persons sleep THIS is your chance before I am all finished up. I would be more than happy to finish on a high note and help a few final Mummas get some more sleep.

I want to also take this opportunity to thank everyone who supported me in one way or another along this lil journey.

Bedtime Cues ❤️

I love adding in bedtime cues.

Be sure to keep these the same and be firm with the quantity. You dont want to end up with a toddler demanding an extra book or extra song or extra goodnight kiss etc when they get older. Keep it consistent. Make sure you tick these all off too as your little ones get older. Or 20 mins after you put them to bed they call out and say "mum you forgot my song" 🤣

But mostly, enjoy this small bit of special time right before you leave your little one. This little bit of time with just you and them is so important especially during times of seperation anxiety.

What benefits are there in using a sleep sack or sleeping bag for your baby/toddler?

- keeps your little ones temperature consistent
- safer than blankets
- when used correctly are recommended by Red Nose
- helps avoid toddlers climbing out of cots
- is a positive sleep association
- cues your baby that its sleep time
- are easier to wash and dry than blankets
- can bring comfort to your little one
- easier to pack for travel than blankets
- can help avoid bub getting limbs stuck in between cot bars

Introducing a Comforter - the why, what, when...

When? - Red Nose say from 7mo

What size? Something small

Why? This acts as a transitional object to provide comfort when bub is away from you. There are also some that hold a dummy making them easier to find.

Tip #1 - Once you lock in a comforter buy a couple of them as this helps if one is lost, needs a wash and during times of sickness.

Tip #2 - Incorporate it into your bedtime routine, wear it under your shirt for the day so it smells like you and sometimes can be more helpful if bub is involved in selecting the comforter.

Weaning Night Feeds

There are certain considerations to be made around night feeds.

Every baby is different and every parent has different goals around this topic. Please remember that it can be just as common for a baby at 8-9mo to still be having 1-2 night feeds.

Babies may become hungrier during the day when reducing night feeds.

Remember if you plan to reduce feeds overnight you'll need a new way to settle your baby. I can help with this.
