We’re now in Week 9 of the term, and with the school holidays approaching, we wanted to let you know that we will have limited hours over the break between 7 July and 18 July. Many of our clients and therapists take time off during this period, so our regular schedule will be reduced.

Pete and Kayoko will have session times available during the holidays:

Pete: Tuesday 9 July, Wednesday 10 July, Tuesday 16 July, and Wednesday 17 July
Kayoko: Thursdays (10 and 17 July)

If you’d like to book a session during the holiday period, please let us know and we’ll arrange a suitable time.

Did you know routines don’t have to take all day?
We often think of routines as big chunks of time — like a whole morning or bedtime routine — but they can actually be much smaller.

A routine is simply a regular way of doing something.
Brushing your teeth? That’s a routine. Combing your hair? That’s one too.

As a parent, I remember feeling overwhelmed when I was told to “sequence” my child’s routines — it felt like I had to plan every moment of the day. But it got easier when I realised I could start small.
Waking up and taking a shower? That’s a routine.

This month, we’re focusing on time and routines, and our therapists will be sharing ideas to help break down everyday tasks like getting dressed, brushing teeth, and more.

Some routines take a whole day. Others take just a few minutes.
Both are valid — and both can be supported through music therapy.

It’s the first of June, which means it’s time for a new theme!

This month we’re focusing on time and routines ⏰🗓️

Routines help create structure, build independence, and reduce stress — especially for children and individuals with additional needs.

Whether it’s a morning checklist, a song to pack up, or a musical countdown, we’ll be exploring how music can support routines in fun and practical ways.

Stay tuned all month for ideas, activities, and music therapy insights built around rhythm, repetition, and routine!

We hope you have enjoyed the journey back in time as much as we have.

Stay tuned… a brand-new theme is just around the corner! 👀🎵
(Any guesses what it might be?)

We've had a lot of fun with our dinosaur theme. We have one more Friday fun fact about dinosaurs!

Did you know that dinosaurs communicated through sound and movement. 🦖

Roars, grunts, and stomping were likely used to warn others or attract mates—just like music is used today to express emotion and connect with others.

Music + Craft = Dino Fun! 🦖🎶

We’ve had a few people ask about our dinosaur-themed instruments spotted in the studio — and here’s the secret:
We used real instruments like a woodblock and cabasa, then decorated them using craft templates originally made for toilet paper rolls!

That’s right — we adapted a fun DIY idea to give our instruments a prehistoric twist. It's a simple, creative way to spark imagination and bring music to life.

🎨 Want to try this at home?
You can decorate your own instruments or stick to the original idea and use toilet paper rolls for a cute and crafty dinosaur creation.

The templates are below — enjoy your dino-mite crafting adventure!

Music therapy is more than just listening or learning how to play an instrument — it’s using music as a tool to work on real-life goals.

This month, we’ve been moving, stomping, and swaying through dinosaur-themed sessions designed to build coordination, confidence, social connection, and joy. 🦕

Whether it’s moving to the beat like a stomping T-Rex or following musical cues as a dancing dino herd, our sessions use rhythm, melody, and play to support non-musical goals in fun and meaningful ways.

Because in music therapy, it’s not about learning music — it’s about using music to grow. 🎵

It’s Week 5 — can you believe we’re already halfway through the term?
Time really does fly when you’re busy and enjoying what you do.

It’s been a solid start to the term, and we’re looking forward to the rest of it.

Keeping with our dinosaur theme, here’s a dino fact! 🦖

Some dinosaurs may have had excellent hearing — especially the carnivores!

Researchers believe species like the T-Rex could detect low-frequency sounds, like distant footsteps or deep growls.

Sound is powerful — even today, we react to thunder, a far-off drumbeat, or the gentle hum of music.
What low sounds can you hear if you really stop and listen?. 🎶

🦖🎶 Raptors Rock! 🎶🦖

Sticking with our dinosaur theme this month, today we’re spotlighting the Velociraptor Song by Howdytoons!

This fast-paced, rock-inspired tune is perfect for little dino lovers who like their music LOUD and FUN. 🎸

Not only is it full of energy, it’s also packed with cool facts — like the real size of a velociraptor, what they ate, and those famous claws! 🐾

Fun fact Friday!

Birds are living dinosaurs—and they sing! 🦕🎤

Birds are direct descendants of theropod dinosaurs, and their songs are an evolutionary continuation of prehistoric vocalisations. So when you hear birdsong, you're hearing echoes of the past!
