Congratulations to Emma from the 2026 HSC Music 2 and Extension courses who received a HSC ENCORE Nomination for her Performance program on flute. Emma has been has been recognised by NESA as an exemplary performer. An outstanding individual achievement.

And just like that, our graduating class has reached the final roll call.

From first days filled with possibility to the final moments of their school journey, our graduates have grown, learned, challenged themselves, and created memories that will stay with them long beyond these school gates.

Yesterday, we celebrated not only what they have achieved, but the people they have become; the friendships forged, the lessons learned, the challenges overcome, and the moments that made their time here so special.

As we called their names one final time, we do so with immense pride and gratitude.

Today marks the close of one chapter and the beginning of another.

Throughout their years at our school, the Class of 2026 have grown, challenged themselves, formed lasting friendships, and created memories that will remain long after the final bell has rung.

As they step forward into new opportunities, we celebrate not only all they have achieved, but the people they have become along the way.

May they carry with them the lessons, friendships, and memories of their school years, and look to the future with confidence, curiosity, and purpose.

Our prefect induction ceremony recognised the many qualities of our Year 11 students who embraced the leadership challenge.

We announced our 2027 House Captains and Senior Leadership Team, celebrating with our school community. The traditional signing of the leadership book formalised the incoming team and their commitment to lead and model our school values.

Year 12 Final Week Activities

It's been a fun-filled final week for our Year 12's. Monday saw the culmination of the Staff vs Students Sports Competition with the students narrowly (and luckily) being victorious, courtesy of edging past the teachers on penalties in the decisive soccer match, despite a stellar performance in midfield by Mr Laginestra.

Tuesday, then saw students battle against each other in a titanic Trivia tussle and also in House Games all the while wearing their primary school uniforms. In between this there was also time for an epic Just Dance dance off and a coaching session from BYC Coaching. Today students enjoyed a Brekkie BBQ of bacon and eggs while getting their school shirts signed and attended their final assembly in which the Year 12 Senior Leadership Team 2026 handed on the baton to the class of 2027. And finally, there was the Graduation rehearsal to get everything ready for tomorrow.....

'Marchant Achilles' Staff vs Students Cup - 2026
In a contest as old as time itself, the outgoing Year 12s have been battling it out with our brave teachers to determine the most dominant alliance of GHS.
With the teachers currently on a 97 year winning streak, things looked dicey after a 17-38 loss in the basketball match. Led by the long-range accuracy of 'Deep Three-o' Leo, the students led from start to finish and were only troubled by Mr Abra's post play and the degrading eyesight of the Staff Referee.
The Netball match was a torrid affair with a huge crowd cheering on their favourite teachers. The students raced out to an early lead via the attacking play of Eleanor and Mia, then cometh the hour, cometh the Head Teacher of the Universe: Mrs Howe! She dazzled the crowd with her array of leads and dodges, and proved to be a pinpoint shooter, knocking down 7 important goals to lead the Staff to victory.
All tied up at 1 all, the shield will be decided with Monday's soccer match!
