Through our school plan shared expectations for student behaviour are plain to everyone, assisting Gordonvale State School to create and maintain a positive and productive learning environment. All school community members have clear and consistent expectations and understandings of their role in the educational process. Our school community has identified the school rules to teach and promote our high standards of responsible behaviour. The school rules are captured in the slogan "Be a Safe, Respectful Learner”.
During 2009-2012 the school went through major renovations which included renovations to classrooms and the building of the Multipurpose Hall. The teaching facilities consist of 3 Prep classrooms, 24 general teaching classrooms, a resource centre, 3 computer labs, a learning support centre, a special needs facility, an arts/music centre, and undercover play area. Teaching blocks are fully air-conditioned, have computer access and are linked to the information technology network.

⚫️🟡🔴 GSS NAIDOC WEEK 2026 🔵⚪️🟢

This week - Week 8 - will see us recognise and celebrate the two oldest continuously living cultures in the world, those of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, as part of our 2026 NAIDOC Week.

This year is also an important milestone, as we celebrate 50 years of NAIDOC Week. The 2026 theme - “50 Years of Deadly” - celebrates five decades of recognising, celebrating and sharing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories, achievements and voices.
It also gives us an opportunity to recognise the strength and pride that continues from generation to generation.

Fifty years of NAIDOC Week reminds us how far we have come, but also that learning, listening and walking together continues every day.

We are looking forward to the activities and ceremonies across this week and to seeing our students, staff, families and community learning and celebrating together.

💀🌹🪅🎉 2 / 3 Peak Points Party 💀🌹🪅🎉

Our 2 /3 class celebrated in style during the middle session on Friday, with one of the most interesting and creative celebrations we've had so far! 🙌

To tie in with their learning this term, of celebrations and commemorations around the world, they held a 'Day of the Dead' themed party - complete with "calavera" face paint, icing of skull biscuits and showing of the film 'COCO'.

Miss Maher was so impressed with the facts and information they were able to share with her when she visited, and walked away inspired to learn more about "ofrendas" and the numerous other traditions and rituals that form parts of this very special commemoration in Mexico.

Well done 2/3 and Mrs Bryant! What a wonderful example of immersive and active learning, tied into an awesome Peak Points celebration! 👏✨️❤️
