It is about bringing a sense of playfulness, lightness and fun back into our classrooms- we are after all working with children and this is their essence. Today teachers are experiencing an ever-increasing workload, they are being faced with children that are displaying more extreme behaviours and being asked to do much more in this role then ever before. Kids in Connection offers support to teachers in finding their own way to deal with this while also finding a way to develop deep connections with the children in their class- the benefits of this are endless. Kids in Connection is directed by Kristy Wood, a primary school teacher who has experience working in a variety of settings from schools in remote communities to schools in rural and metropolitan areas as well as organisations providing camps and other recreational opportunities for kids. Prior to her teaching career Kristy worked as a youth worker in a su***de prevention program. In her current position Kristy provides support services to children, teachers and families in two schools.
“For me teaching is about the relationship and connection I have with the children and the relationship and connections they have with themselves and each other". "The role of a teacher holds a lot of influence, much more then we choose to be aware of, I am in the process of learning that:
How I am with myself affects how I will be with the children,
and how I am with the children affects how they will be with each other”.
“Education is the kindling of a flame, not the filling of a vessel” Socrates
Kids in Connection is inspired by the work of Serge Benhayon.
