Volcanoes continue to be one of the most captivating experiences. The moment the reaction begins, children and educators gather, fully engaged, ready to explore what happens next.

Through touching, observing, and talking about the changes they see, children build early science skills, strengthen vocabulary, and develop confidence in experimenting with materials.
It’s a beautiful reminder that learning is most powerful when curiosity leads the way.

Writing begins long before pencils and paper. It starts with building strong little hands!
Our Kindergarten 1 children used playdough to form letters, engaging their fingers, palms, wrists, and arms in the movements needed for future writing.

Through squeezing, rolling, pinching, and shaping, children are developing the muscles and control required for holding a pencil, forming letters, and writing with confidence.
Playdough literacy is fun, sensory, and full of meaningful learning.

Our Kindergarten 2 children have been engaging in rich literacy experiences that support communication, vocabulary development, early reading behaviours, and confident meaning‑making.

With educators guiding, modelling, and extending their thinking, children explored letters, sounds, symbols, and stories through playful, hands‑on activities. These moments show children developing agency, curiosity, and a strong sense of themselves as capable communicators and learners.

Learning in action: As children moved from shared experiences into confident, self‑initiated exploration.

During a small‑group reading and nursery‑rhyme session, children connected with peers, pointed to familiar images, shared ideas, and experimented with new vocabulary. These moments of collective engagement created a strong foundation for deeper learning.

Later, we saw this learning transfer beautifully into independent play. Children began selecting books on their own, turning pages with curiosity, naming pictures, and revisiting words introduced during group time. This self‑directed literacy play shows growing autonomy, emerging language skills, and the ability to build on shared experiences to make meaning in their own way.

Even our littlest learners enjoy participating in Science Week.

This hands-on experiment involving colour mixing with oil, water and coloured milk encouraged the children to develop their curiosity, observation and early scientific thinking. They explored cause and effect, made observations, and experienced how different liquids behave when combined. The activity also supported fine-motor skills, concentration, turn-taking and confidence as the children participated independently.

🔨✨ Today our children put their creativity and problem-solving skills to the test with the iCreate Brainstormer Kit!

Using child-safe tools and recycled cardboard, they designed, built and explored their own unique creations while developing fine motor skills, teamwork and early STEM concepts. Through hands-on learning, children discovered that imagination, perseverance and a little engineering can transform everyday recycled materials into something amazing! ♻️💡

Working alongside our Goodstart Family and Child Practitioner, our team recently participated in training about inclusive practices that support children with complex trauma and developmental needs.

Learning more about brain development and the positive impact strong and meaningful relationships with adults has on children’s successful engagement in early learning services, to support their enhanced outcomes for adulthood cemented our Key Educator Relationships Approach to developing reciprocal relationships between not only our educators and the children in our centre, but also for the families of the children who attend our service based on Bowlby’s Attachment Theory and Brain Development.

When children and their families thrive through the work we do, we are confident that our passionate team are making a positive impact on the future of the generations we educate and care for every day.

We understand that not all journeys are easy; but all journeys are worth it when we see children and their families thrive because of the work we do and the lens in which we view child development.

Little pig, little pig let me in!

Our Kindergarten 1 (3-4yo) children have been really interested in the story of ‘The Three Little Pigs’ recently.

After re-telling the story using their memory recall and sequencing skills, Miss Jacqui organised a fantastic provocation for learning where the children have begun to create the little pigs houses, starting with the house built from straw.

Do you remember what happened to this first little pigs house?

This story extension provocation encouraged language development, creativity, cooperation, and imaginative play while strengthening fine motor skills through the craft activity - all whilst continuing to build on tangible opportunities to develop and build confidence as they communicated their ideas, negotiated roles with their peers, and worked together to recreate a well-loved story.
