Gleeson College We focus on developing each student’s unique talents in a joyful, faith-filled community.

Welcome to Gleeson College, a Catholic community in Adelaide’s northeast, where students are valued, nurtured, and supported to grow academically and personally. Gleeson College was established in 1989, being built on the strong values and principles held by our founder, the late Archbishop James Gleeson. As a faith-filled community, our aim as a College is to provide a safe and welcoming community where students are happy to learn and grow together with the help of the wonderful teachers and support staff, who devote their time to ensure all members of Gleeson succeed in in reaching their goals. Positive relationships between students, staff and families is evident and strengthens our community. New and updated facilities, and a broad range of opportunities, provided to students allow each student the opportunity to reach their full potential. We invite you to explore our website at www.gleeson.sa.edu.au and discover more about the learning and extra curricular opportunities Gleeson College has to offer your child!

⭐ Gleeson Day ⭐

On Friday, our College community celebrated Gleeson Day in honour of our namesake, Emeritus Archbishop James Gleeson. Students began the day with Mass led by Gleeson Old Scholar Fr Josh McDermid, followed by a delicious donut break with student-led music, with one lucky recipient getting the specially iced donut! Then came House events, followed by an array of fun activities including board games, cooking, card making, painting, chess, and kicking a footy or soccer ball on the oval. The day concluded with an early finish for staff and students, marking the beginning of the holiday break.

🥇 CHAMPIONS! Congratulations to our Year 7 and 8 Boys division 2 footy team for winning the Final today of the School Sport SA Australian Football statewide schools competition.

Blackwood High School started strongly, but our team soon found its momentum. The skill, teamwork, and support the players showed for one another were fantastic to watch.

Well done to all the players, coaches, and support crew on a terrific competition. Thank you also to the parents and caregivers who came along and cheered on our players today. Go Gleeson!

Gleeson College proudly hosted the One Heart League: SOLO and One Heart League: CO:OP esport competitions, bringing together students from seven schools for a day of exciting competition and community engagement. Participants competed across Mario Kart, Rocket League and Super Smash Bros., showcasing both their gaming skills and commitment to fair play.

Congratulations to Sam (Year 9), who achieved first place in the Senior Mario Kart competition, and Hayden (Year 12), who was awarded the prestigious One Heart Award in recognition of his outstanding positive attitude and willingness to support others throughout the day.

A highlight of the day was a visit from independent game developers Wayward Skies, who showcased their game, Mimicry. Students thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to play the game, meet the developers, and gain insight into the game development industry. We also extend our thanks to our CO:OP sponsor, MSI, for their continued support, fantastic giveaways, and exceptional hardware support, which helped ensure the day ran smoothly.

The event was a fantastic celebration of teamwork, inclusion, and the growing opportunities within esports.

More than 50 Gleeson College students participated in our annual Vinnies Winter Sleepout, held last Friday night. The initiative saw students spend a night sleeping outdoors, raising awareness of the challenges faced by people experiencing homelessness. As part of the evening, students participated in a Soup Kitchen or activities run by Stage 2 Society and Culture students to reflect on what it means to face hardship in today's society. All students created a cardboard shelter to sleep in, and there were many donations of good quality second-hand clothing, blankets, hygiene products and non-perishable food items for the cause.

Spring is in the air! As the weather begins to warm up, Gleeson students are welcome to wear their summer uniform during Weeks 9 and 10 of Term 3.

Not ready to let go of the winter uniform? That's OK! Students may continue wearing their winter uniform for the remainder of Term 3.
