On Friday evening, we were delighted to welcome members of the Class of 1996 back to Gleeson for their 30-Year Reunion. It was a wonderful night of reconnecting, sharing memories, and reflecting on the past three decades. Guests also enjoyed the opportunity to tour the College and see the many developments that have taken place over the years. It was particularly special to have former staff members join us for the occasion.
🌱 Gleeson celebrated National Science Week, embracing the theme ‘Seeds of Science: Nurturing knowledge for all’ with a series of fun lunchtime activities including sprouting a bean seed. Daily quizzes for staff and students were a fun way to test scientific knowledge. We also stopped by a Year 7 Science class as they measured the vitamin C content of various native fruit juices, including Kakadu plum, Desert lime and Lemon aspen, and compared the results to lemons and oranges. The week was a great opportunity to celebrate scientific thinking and encourage students to explore the world around them through inquiry and hands-on learning.

📚 Recently, 17 Gleeson Year 7 and 8 students participated in the Write a Book in a Day competition, alongside students from Pedare Christian College and Golden Grove High School. After participating in a workshop with published guest author Adam Cece, our students worked together in small groups to write and illustrate a children's book. Their creativity and teamwork will be on display at next week's finals, where they will present their stories to primary school students.

Gleeson Year 12 student, Ruby, represented SA at the School Sport Australia Swimming Championships held in Melbourne. Ruby had a very busy schedule with 17 swims over four days, achieving many top 10 results across her events. She was also recognised for her strong leadership qualities by being selected as a team Captain. In April, Ruby also competed at the 2026 Australian Age Championships and 2026 Australian Open, held at the Gold Coast Aquatic Centre. Amazing effort, Ruby! 👏

Yesterday, we celebrated the Semester 1 academic accomplishments of Middle School students at the Gleeson College Academic Awards. The efforts of Years 7, 8 and 9 students were recognised with the presentation of Academic Honours, Academic Achievement, and Academic Endeavour certificates.

Today, we celebrated the academic achievement and endeavour of our students with the Gleeson College Academic Awards, held in the Dame Roma Mitchell Centre. At the Senior School assembly, we recognised the Semester 1 efforts of students in Years 10, 11 and 12. Congratulations to all award recipients! 👏⭐

🎶 Gleeson congratulates members of our Stage Band, Concert Choir and vocal group Cadenza for their excellent results at the 30th Balaklava Eisteddfod 2026. Our Concert Choir achieved 3rd place in the Senior ‘A’ Choir section, Cadenza earned 3rd place in the Senior ‘A’ Vocal Ensemble section, and our Stage Band came home with an Honourable Mention in the Open Band - Concert, Stage section. Well done! 👏
