Pantelis from Orizon Homes in Adelaide had subbies running at 60% of revenue in his worst months.

No purchase orders. No scope control. Trades were billing whatever they wanted with zero accountability.

So our performance coach Crystal got him focused on what was happening underneath the revenue.

Purchase orders went in. Rates got renegotiated. Subbies who couldn't work within a system were managed out.

Every month subbies sat above 50% of revenue, the business lost money. Every month they dropped below 35%, it made money.

April last year: lost $61K.
April this year: $52K profit.
Same top line revenue. $114K swing.

No extra sales. No extra marketing. Just controlling what was already going out the door.

If your subbies are billing whatever they like because there's no PO system holding them accountable, book a Growth Accelerator Gameplan session using the link below.

We'll go in depth on the numbers that might be bleeding your building company dry and build a 90 day gameplan to protect your profit and buy back your time.

12 months ago Rusty McCormack nearly shut the doors at Cormack Developments.

No financial visibility. No systems. 30 years as a chippy and still running every decision through his own head.

His performance coach Crystal got him laser focused.
First move: fixing his chart of accounts so he could actually see where the money was leaking. Then onboarding two VAs to handle operations. Then installing the 1% Referral Program with a proper weekly lead tracking rhythm.

Today he's sitting on a $14.8M pipeline. $6M of that from referrals alone.

And on any given day he picks his son up and hits the skate park at 3pm. Because his systems and his team run without him.

"Systems that TPB teach you to implement, they work. They work."

I was driving through Hamburg last week and got pinged for speeding. Not on the autobahn. In town. Just wasn't paying attention to the signs.

And it hit me how often I see the exact same thing in building companies.

Builders come to us doing $2M, $3M, $5M in revenue. They're flat out. Running multiple crews. Quoting every job that comes through the door. Going faster and faster.

But when we look under the bonnet, their gross margins are sitting at 12%. Maybe 10%. Sometimes lower.

They're going fast, but they're bleeding money on every single job.

Here's what most people don't realise. If your margins are below 15% going in or coming out of a project, landing more work can actually make things worse. You're just scaling your losses. More jobs. More risk. More cash pressure. More stress. Less profit.

One of the first things we do with every builder who comes to us is pull apart the numbers. We look at your margins. Your work in progress. Your forecast versus actual on live jobs. How you're capturing variations. How your contracts are structured. Whether you're competing on price just to win work.

Because the profit leaks are usually hiding in plain sight. They're just going under the radar because nobody's shining a light on them.

That speeding ticket made me slow down and check the signs. If you haven't done that in your building company lately, start with our free 60-Point Profit Protection Checklist. It walks through every phase of a job so you can see exactly where profit is draining out of your business.

Mark Iskander is a 25-year-old custom home builder running projects across LA County.

Before he joined TPB, he was interviewing construction coaches left and right. Feeling lost. Trying to figure out if anyone actually had answers that applied to his business.

He chose us. And here's what he found.

We don't hand you a bunch of resources and say "good luck." You get a dedicated performance coach tracking your numbers, checking in bi-weekly, keeping you accountable to the plan.

That structure changed Mark's entire trajectory. He walked in wondering if $100M was even possible. Now his only question is how fast he can get there.

In his words, the ROI has been unmatchable.

If you're a custom home builder or remodeler doing $1M+ and you feel like you're grinding without a clear path forward, this is what it looks like when that changes.

We've helped 3,100+ builders since 2004. Mark's one of them.

A $2M new build and a bathroom reno shouldn't carry the same margin. But most builders run 20-25% across every job.

That works on a large build. It quietly loses money on smaller ones.

A bathroom or kitchen carries just as many trades to coordinate as a full home. Plumber, sparky, tiler, waterproofer, cabinetmaker, painter. Same number of phone calls. Same site visits. Same admin.

But all that overhead is spread across maybe $40K in revenue instead of $1.5M.

Sub-$50K jobs should be priced at 35-50% gross margin. $1M+ builds can work at 18-20%.

And here's the thing with small jobs. They have the least room to absorb an overrun. One blown waterproofing membrane or a delayed tile delivery and your margin evaporates overnight.

The 60-Point Profit Protection Checklist includes a dedicated pricing module with specific margin targets broken down by job size. So you're not guessing.

5 builders. 5 different cities. Same story.

They were grinding 60-70 hour weeks. Doubling revenue but watching the chaos double with it. Stuck on the builder's roller coaster where you're buried in work one month and scrambling for leads three months later.

Here's where they are now:

Mark in LA says working with TPB is the single biggest investment he's ever made. And he's invested a lot in self-development over the years.

Blake and Bruce in Dartmouth were doubling in size year over year and didn't even see the pain points until they looked back in hindsight. Now they're holding steady at 40-hour weeks.

Michael in Arizona is on track for $7M this year and shooting for $10M next year. No more feast/famine.

Chris in Texas was scared that charging more would lose him customers. His margins went up. And so did the quality of his client relationships.

Ben in Orlando was working 60-70 hours and everything ran through him. Six months in, he's at 35-40 hours and actually getting time back with his family.

These are building company owners running real teams and real revenue. They just needed the systems and accountability to match.

We've helped 3,100+ builders since 2004.

Louis from , a developer based in Vancouver, BC, Canada, faced a critical operational bottleneck when scaling his residential construction company. He was trapped trying to solve technical issues on site and relying on the undocumented loyalty of subcontractors who had worked alongside him for 11 years. This lack of clear expectations meant trades arrived on unprepared sites, wasting schedule time and pulling Louis away from high-level sales.

To fix this operational drag, Louis instituted detailed Purchase Order Agreements for every sub-trade, outlining exact expectations for site cleanliness and communication speed. By hiring three site superintendents and two project managers, he successfully delegated daily operations and transitioned his own focus entirely to business development and securing project financing through credit unions.

South Island building company owners. This one's for you.

On October 6, 7 and 8 we're running our Profit & Pipeline Workshop across Christchurch, Dunedin and Queenstown.

4 hours. NZ$97. Bring your partner for free.

Here's what you'll walk out with:

→ The TPB 1% Referral System that turns past clients into a steady stream of quality enquiries
→ The 10-Step Sales System so you stop competing on price and start landing jobs above $250K
→ How to price every job to a true 20%+ gross margin (and the markup vs margin mistake that's probably costing you hundreds of thousands)
→ How to back cost in real time so you never give away free labour or materials on variations, contractor delays or scope gaps
→ How to charge for your Prelim Budget so the tyre-kickers disappear and you get paid for your expertise
→ A clear 90-day plan you can put to work Monday morning

You'll also hear live from Christchurch builder Pagan Crane, who stopped spending 40 hours a week quoting jobs for free and started charging for quotes.

Plus you'll take home over $1,244 in bonus tools including Marti's best-selling book, our New Build Pricing Spreadsheet and a 1-on-1 Game Plan session with a TPB Growth Advisor.

This is built for residential building company owners in the South Island doing $2M+ in revenue. If you're still on the tools full time, this probably isn't the right fit yet.

We've helped 3,200+ builders since 2004. Everything in this workshop comes from what's working right now inside those businesses.

Double your money back if you don't leave with at least one strategy you can use. All the risk sits with us.

As a residential building company owner, a job you think is sitting at 20% margin can actually be sitting at 16.7%. Let me explain.

That happens when you add a 20% markup to your costs and treat the result as a 20% margin.

For a residential builder, that difference matters.

You can win the job, keep the project moving and still end up with less margin than you thought you sold.

And pricing is only one part of the numbers you need to understand.

WIP, labour, overheads and project management costs all affect what you actually make from a project.

We break these numbers down in our 75-minute workshop, including the playbooks you can use to tighten your numbers and cash flow.
