Improving Biodiversity! 🌿
Our Unit Support Officer and conservation champion, Roh, worked alongside ecological restorers Richy and Pablo from Landmark Environmental, LLC to plant established and tubestock native species around our Currumbin Valley campus and along our creek corridor, while also removing invasive plant species within an important restoration zone. 🌱
We love enhancing ecosystems and outdoor environments to support learning in, for and about the environment - creating spaces where biodiversity can thrive. 💚

✨Celebrating Cleaners! 🧼✨
On ‘School Cleaners’ Day’ we proudly celebrate our incredible cleaners who work tirelessly and often quietly behind the scenes to keep our school sites clean, hygienic, maintained and well-presented for our visiting school groups.
Across our two sites, they take on all kinds of tasks and respond to unique situations every day - all in a day’s work, and always with focus, pride and a smile.
We are so grateful for the care, effort and pride they bring to maintaining our learning environments and helping create safe, welcoming spaces for students, staff and visitors alike.
To our wonderful cleaners - please know you are genuinely appreciated, valued and noticed for all that you do. ✨🙏🏽✨

Jellurgal First Nations Rangers!
🖤💛❤️
We were excited to welcome Jellurgal jimbelungs (friends) to our beautiful Currumbin Valley Campus to experience unique learning sites, biodiversity, running creek and surrounding natural features. 🍃
These newly appointed First Nations Rangers are undertaking important work in strengthening cultural, community and conservation connections, while exploring opportunities for meaningful collaboration and partnerships.
Our team loved hearing Heidi, Jaxon, Aliya and Mibin share stories of their journeys, aspirations and connections to Country through some wonderful yarns together. 🌀
A big thank you to our catering team for creating a delicious ‘bush flavours’ inspired afternoon tea, which was greatly enjoyed. 🙏🏽
We’re looking forward to supporting conservation training with the Rangers, while also learning from the rich knowledge, lived experience and perspectives they bring in return.
Here’s to ongoing connection, shared learning and caring for Country. 🌱

🌿 Happy World Environment Day! 🌿
Today, we celebrate our shared responsibility to care for and protect the environments that sustain us. 💚
At Tallebudgera Outdoor and Environmental Education Centre, we feel incredibly grateful to learn and work across two extraordinary campuses, each home to unique and protected ecosystems. Every day, we are reminded of the privilege and responsibility of connecting young people and the wider community to the natural world and inspiring care for Country. 🙏🏽
We deeply value opportunities to support learners to connect with Country, grow environmental understanding, and respectfully engage with First Nations knowledge systems and perspectives that have guided sustainable care for place for tens of thousands of years. 🖤💛❤️
Our staff are also committed to taking action for the environment - planting native species, supporting habitat restoration, engaging with conservation initiatives, and finding community, camaraderie and purpose through working collaboratively to care for special places. 🌱
World Environment Day, celebrated annually on 5 June, encourages awareness and action for the protection of our environment. Today is a reminder that positive change happens through collective action - and that every small act of care matters. 🌏
Together, we can continue to nurture healthy ecosystems, strong communities and hopeful futures. 🫶🏽

🌱 Supporting conservation in action 🌱
We’re excited to support the relaunch of the Friends of David Fleay Conservation Park and the ongoing care of this special patch of native habitat.
As part of their Hero’s Journey, our students learn about environmental champions like David Fleay and walk through this unique coastal forest and mangrove ecosystem on their way to the Wildlife Conservation Park - often lucky enough to spot Borobi (koalas) along the journey. 🐨
It is inspiring to see the ongoing conservation, care and custodianship of this place through the collective efforts of Queensland National Parks, conservation groups, volunteers and community members working together to help native species and ecosystems thrive.
Together, we can help ensure these special places endure for future generations. 💚

Program Partner Shout Out! 🧗♀️
We’re grateful to partner with ON BELAY CLIMBING, led by Pete and his team, in supporting our residential programs and guiding students through their Call to Adventure on the Hero’s Journey.
On Warrior Day, students are invited to step outside their comfort zones - taking risks, adapting to new challenges, and building confidence in adventurous contexts. Through these experiences, they learn to collaborate, problem-solve and support one another.
With a range of ‘challenge by choice’ options and highly skilled instructors providing support, students are empowered to take that leap - at their own pace. 💪🏽
We truly value our community partners who help create high-quality, meaningful learning experiences for our students. ✨🙏🏽✨

International Connections 🌏
We were thrilled to welcome students and staff from YCIS Hong Kong to take part in our ‘Hero’s Journey’ residential program. 🇭🇰
This marks the 27th year of our partnership - a connection we deeply value. With 126 students joining us this year for their 7-day experience, it was inspiring to see such a dedicated team of educators supporting every step of the journey. 🩵
A big shout out to all the amazing staff in this photo - still smiling at the end of camp! 👏🏽
Special thanks to our Deputy Principal Dale (Beach School campus) and Chrissy, Deputy Principal at YCIS. These two legends worked across continents to bring everything together with outstanding organisation, communication and mutual respect. 🤩
We’re proud to continue fostering international connections through the Queensland Department of Education International team. 🙌🏽

🌿 Community Connections! 🌿
Team members from our Currumbin Valley campus were excited to be invited to visit and explore the Garima Conservation Reserve alongside our education friends from Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary.
Located in the beautiful Currumbin Valley, this 27.5-hectare conservation property is home to a rich diversity of native plants and wildlife. The reserve provides essential habitat for koalas and supports 13 threatened flora species. 🐨
Conservation initiatives onsite include important natural environment restoration work and threatened species programs, including an Eastern Bristlebird breeding facility.
The Garima team are passionate about exploring future educational and conservation partnerships, and we were inspired by the opportunity to strengthen local community connections grounded in care for Country, conservation and environmental stewardship.🌀
Protecting the biodiversity and ecological significance of these unique ecosystems is vital in helping conserve Queensland’s natural environment and supporting threatened species into the future. 💚
