Even with nearly two decades of working in education under my belt and proclaiming to be an “expert” in my relief teaching field, I wanted you all to see that the real and the ugly parts of this job happen to us all!
I would say 95% of my teaching days I have are great days, but some days can bring you undone. 😭
It doesn’t mean you’re a bad teacher, that you aren’t suited to the job or any other negative talk you may be giving yourself after a rough day.
A class is NEVER going to be as good for you as they are for their classroom teachers.
And if you have a bad day, just be extra grateful that you only had to deal with them for a day!
My tip would be to try and stay neutral and not emotionally charged and don’t be too proud to call for back-up.
And I might start taking some of my own advice in future. 😉
