Where Creativity meets Education We are Pimpama's newest, innovative and purpose built early learning centre which is conveniently located in Barry Street.

Offering long day care for children from 6 weeks until school age, our centre is specifically designed to provide an abundance of room for energetic bodies and creative minds to learn, discover, grow, explore, interact and rest when required. When designing the centre, we have been guided by the Reggio Emilia philosophy and understand that the environment is vitally important in providing provocation, stimulation and wonderment. We welcome all visitors to Creative Minds Early Learning Centre.

πŸ₯ Farewell Little Chicks! πŸ₯

Over the past 2 weeks, the children have loved watching, learning about, and caring for the beautiful chicks from Henny Penny Farm.

From observing their growth and development to learning about responsibility, kindness, and respect for living things, the chicks have provided so many wonderful learning opportunities and special memories.

This Friday, 19th June, it will be time to say goodbye as our feathered friends return to the farm, where they will continue their journey and grow into free-range egg-laying chickens. πŸ“πŸ₯š

The children have enjoyed every moment of this hands-on experience, and we are grateful for the opportunity to learn about life cycles and animal care.

Why Do Children Bite?

Biting can be a common stage of development in early childhood, particularly for toddlers and young children who are still developing their language and social skills. Children may bite when they are frustrated, excited, overwhelmed, tired, seeking attention, or simply because they do not yet have the words to express their feelings and needs.

At Creative Minds, we understand that biting is a form of communication and is not intended to cause harm. Our focus is on supporting children as they learn more appropriate ways to express themselves and interact with others.

To help children through this stage, we implement an individual Biting Management Plan. This plan allows our educators to identify possible triggers, monitor patterns, communicate with parents and use consistent support strategies tailored to each child's needs. By working closely with families and educators, we can help children develop the language, emotional regulation, and social skills needed to move through this stage successfully.

We appreciate your support and partnership as we guide children through these important learning experiences.

🌿 Exploring Nature Through Our Senses Africa Studio 🌿

Our little learners in the Africa Studio (3 months to 15 months) enjoyed a beautiful nature-based sensory experience this week.

The sensory tray was filled with natural materials including sand, bark, sticks, and Indigenous-inspired image discs, providing opportunities for babies to explore a variety of textures, colours, and shapes in a safe and engaging environment.

Sensory play is an important part of early development, helping to build:
✨ Curiosity and exploration skills
✨ Fine motor development
✨ Sensory awareness
✨ Language and communication skills
✨ Connections with the natural world

Our youngest learners loved touching, feeling, and investigating the different materials at their own pace, supporting their natural desire to discover and learn through play.

πŸƒ At Creative Minds, we believe that even our tiniest explorers benefit from rich, hands-on experiences that nurture a sense of wonder and belonging.

We acknowledge Reconciliation Week, our children explored what makes our classroom, country and community special. Through meaningful conversations, they shared ideas such as kindness, sharing, belonging, playing together, and using nice words.

These discussions help children build an understanding of respect, inclusion, and connection, values that are at the heart of reconciliation. By listening to children’s voices and encouraging a sense of belonging, we are helping to create a future built on understanding and unity for all Australians.

during Reconciliation Week we continued to learn about and celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories, and perspectives, while reflecting on how we can walk together with respect and care every day. πŸ–€πŸ’›β€οΈ

πŸ”¬πŸ§ͺScience and Discovery with Lab Kids Science ProgramπŸ§ͺπŸ”¬

The children in Oceania Studio have been enjoying their monthly visit from the Lab Kids Science Program!

Lab Kids provides interactive science incursions designed to captivate and inspire young minds. Through hands-on experiments, exciting demonstrations, and engaging activities, children are encouraged to explore the wonders of science in a safe, fun, and meaningful way.

Led by expert sciences, each session is filled with learning, laughter, and opportunities for discovery. The children are encouraged to ask questions, make predictions, observe outcomes, and develop their critical thinking skills while having an amazing time.

Programs are carefully designed to be age-appropriate, making scientific concepts easy to understand and exciting to explore. Experiences like these help foster curiosity, confidence, problem-solving skills, and a lifelong love of learning.

When Should You Start Removing Your Child’s Dummy?

Dummies can be a great source of comfort for babies, especially during sleep and times of stress. However, as children grow, it is important to gradually reduce and eventually remove dummy use to support their development.

When is the Right Time?

Many health professionals recommend beginning to reduce dummy use from around 12 months of age and aiming to have dummies removed altogether by 2–3 years of age.

Why is it Important to Remove Dummies?

Children learn to communicate by babbling, experimenting with sounds, and practising words throughout the day. When a dummy is frequently in a child's mouth, it can:
Reduce opportunities for talking and practising new words.
Make it more difficult for children to form certain sounds correctly.

Extended dummy use can:

Influencing the alignment of growing teeth.
Affecting the shape of the roof of the mouth.
Preventing the tongue from moving freely and naturally, which is important for both speech and eating skills.

Tips for Saying Goodbye to the Dummy

1. Gradually Reduce Use
Start by limiting dummy use to sleep times only. Once your child is comfortable, begin reducing its use during naps and bedtime.

2. Offer Comfort in Other Ways
Provide extra cuddles, comfort toys, blankets, books, or quiet activities to help your child feel secure.

3. Create a Special Farewell
Some families have success with a "dummy farewell" where the child gives their dummy to a special character or puts it in a memory box.

4. Be Consistent
Once you decide to remove the dummy, try to remain consistent. Mixed messages can make the transition more challenging.

5. Praise and Encourage
Celebrate small successes and acknowledge your child's efforts. Positive encouragement can help build their confidence during the transition.

Remember

Giving up a dummy is a big milestone for many children. While there may be a few challenging days, most children adjust quickly with support, patience, and consistency.

If you have any concerns about your child's speech, language development, or oral health, please speak with your child's educator, we are here to help.

🐣 The Chicks Are Here! 🐣

We are so excited to announce that the Henny Penny Hatching Program has arrived at Creative Minds! Today we welcomed our first three beautiful chicks, who are already busy exploring, chirping, and running around their enclosure. We also have many more eggs in the incubator, and the children are eagerly waiting to see if more chicks hatch over the coming days.

We encourage all families to stop by and visit our newest little friends. Watching the chicks grow and develop is a wonderful learning experience for the children and a special opportunity for families to share in the excitement.

To ensure the safety and wellbeing of our chicks, we ask all families to follow these important guidelines:

πŸ₯ Please do not allow children to remove the chicks from their enclosure.

πŸ₯ If your child would like to hold a chick, they must be seated on the mat and an educator or manager will gently pass the chick to them.

πŸ₯ Please encourage children to use gentle hands and quiet voices around the chicks.

Our chicks are only two days old and are very delicate. They can be easily injured if dropped, squeezed too tightly, or handled incorrectly. These guidelines help us keep our little visitors safe while still allowing the children to enjoy this wonderful hands-on experience.

Thank you for helping us care for our newest Creative Minds family members. We can't wait to share this exciting journey with you all! πŸ’›πŸ£
