🧹✨ School Cleaners' Day | Monday 15 June ✨🧹

Before the first bell rings and long after the last student has gone home, our incredible cleaning team is hard at work making Miami State High School a safe, welcoming and healthy place to learn.

From muddy footprints and lunchtime messes to the countless germs we can't see, our cleaners tackle it all with professionalism, care and a smile. Their work often happens behind the scenes, but the impact is felt in every classroom, corridor and shared space across our school.

Today, we tip our hats to these everyday heroes who help keep our school running smoothly and our community thriving.
If you see one of our amazing cleaners today, take a moment to say thank you. Their hard work makes a difference every single day.

πŸ‘ Thank you to our Miami State High School cleaning team. We appreciate you!

πŸŒΏπŸ’›β€οΈπŸ–€ NAIDOC Assembly 2026 πŸ’™πŸ’š

Friday, our school community came together to celebrate NAIDOC Week 2026 and the significant milestone of 50 Years of NAIDOC.

Led by our First Nations students, the assembly was a powerful celebration of culture, identity, resilience, and pride. Through storytelling, dance, music, and personal reflections, students shared the importance of honouring the oldest continuing cultures in the world and recognising the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

We were privileged to welcome our respected Elders, community members, families, special guests, and staff who joined us in this important celebration. Their presence helped make the event a meaningful reminder of the strength that comes from connection, understanding, and respect.

A special thank you to our First Nations students, student leaders, performers, staff, and community partners whose hard work, dedication, and passion brought this assembly to life. Your efforts created an inspiring event that reflected the spirit of this year's theme and showcased the bright future of the next generation.

As we celebrate 50 years of NAIDOC, we acknowledge the legacy of those who have come before us and look forward with hope, strength, and pride to the future.

Good morning,

Machines are getting smarter.

The thing they can't do? Care.

Checking in, standing up, saying something and paying attention - that's human work, your work, and it matters now more than ever.

Connection, inspiration and community were on full display at this morning's Miami Alumni & Business Alliance Breakfast.

We were honoured to welcome The Honourable Justice Michael Baumann AM, proud Miami State High School alumnus and School Captain of 1973, who shared his remarkable journey from the classrooms of Miami to one of Australia's most respected judicial careers.
Justice Baumann captivated guests with reflections on leadership, service, resilience and the importance of building meaningful connections throughout life and career. His insights provided valuable inspiration for our alumni, business partners, staff and invited students.
A sincere thank you to Justice Baumann for generously sharing his time and experiences, and to everyone who attended and contributed to another outstanding Miami Alumni & Business Alliance event.
Together, we continue to strengthen the connections between our school, alumni and wider community, creating opportunities that excite, engage and empower future generations of Miami students.

In English, the Year 7 IDEAS students engaged in a collaborative learning activity called β€˜Hot Seat.’ This term, students have been studying the novel Holes and learning about character perspectives, particularly characters’ attitudes, values, and beliefs.

Firstly, students designed open-ended and thought-provoking questions in pairs. The student in the β€˜hot seat’ then took on the role of a character and answered the questions from that character’s perspective.

This task was designed to help students deepen their understanding of character perspectives while also preparing for their upcoming assessment.

Well done, 7B!
