✨What is an Excess?✨
👋Hi, I'm Lindsey the founder of Fair Go Insurance Research, Australia's only independent insurance comparison service that shows you what's actually included in policies alongside quotes to help you make informed decisions.
(For well known insurers among all major underwriters! And without selling your information to third parties!)
Today I'm going over- What is an excess?
An excess is money you pay when you make a claim.💵
In the example I'm drawing, if your home is destroyed by an insured event, then your excess is what you pay towards the cost of getting your home rebuilt.
Not to be confused with sum insured, which is how much money you have to rebuild your home.
---🏠For home insurance some insurers add extra excesses in certain situations - like if there's an earthquake, or your home is unoccupied.
---Some events have their own excess (like portable contents) that may be more or less than the excess you chose
---🚗 For car insurance, many insurers add extra excesses if you make a claim and the driver of your car is under a certain age, or doesn't have a certain amount of experience, isn't listed as a driver...
✨ All excesses are explained as part of our home and car insurance comparison services, so when you receive your results, you also see all the excesses and fees that might be included in the policies✨
