This week we celebrated World Music Day, also known as La Fete de la Musique. Le Fete de la Musique celebrates music in all its forms, and the importance of music in peopleโ€™s lives. It is celebrated annually on the 21st of June.
Music is loved all around the world, often bringing people together and spreading joy. World Music Day celebrates the positive power of music, by encouraging people to gather, play their instruments, dance and sing together.

Junior Kindy celebrated World Music Day by making their own instruments using a range of new and recycled materials.
The children made drums, shakers and guitars using rubber bands, recycled bowls and lids, paper plates, rice and paints.
This experience allowed the children to use imaginative and creative ideas in their play and to sing rhymes and songs.

The National Reconciliation Week 2022 theme, โ€œBe Brave. Make Change.โ€ Is a challenge to all Australians โ€“ individuals, families, communities, organisations and the government โ€“ to Be Brave and tackle the unfinished business of reconciliation so we can Make Change for the benefit of all Australians.

At Aussie Kids this week all the children have been engaged in National Reconciliation Week experiences.
Some of these included learning about Aboriginal sand symbols, mud painting, dream time stories โ€“ How the Birds got their Colours (told by Mary Albert) and the Rainbow Serpent (Dick Roughsey).
Jellurgal incursion this week had a focus on aboriginal spoken language โ€“ animals, colours, and numbers 1 โ€“ Yabru, 2 โ€“ bula, 3 โ€“ bulayabru

Our Kindergarten class participated in the Miami State School under 8s morning last Friday. It was a great community morning and a wonderful introduction to school. The children enjoyed their time at the school, including participating in all the activities and craft, as well as a visit in the ambulance.
