🧪✨ Little scientists, BIG discoveries!

Science Week has been full of curiosity, experimentation and hands-on fun as our children explored oobleck, fizzy reactions, static balloons, walking water, invisible ink, paint resistance, oil and water, floating and sinking — and so much more!

These playful experiences encourage children to ask questions, make predictions, test their ideas and discover how things work. 🔍💡

Because when children are curious, learning comes alive! 🌱✨

Father’s Day is just around the corner, and we are excited to launch our AWCC Father’s Day Raffle!
For the first time, we are taking our raffle digital, making it quick and easy for families to purchase tickets online.

🤧 Winter Illnesses Are Still Around 🤧

As coughs, colds and other contagious illnesses continue to circulate this winter, we’re sharing Queensland Health’s updated Time Out Poster to help families understand when children should stay home from care and when it is safe to return.

These guidelines help reduce the spread of illness and support the health and wellbeing of all children, families and educators in our centre community.

Please take a moment to review the poster and keep it handy throughout the winter season.

🌿 Professional Development on Country 🌿

Last Thursday, Nikki, Paula and Tamara had the privilege of participating in a "Walk on Country" experience on North Stradbroke Island with Quandamooka artist and cultural educator, Delvene Cockatoo-Collins.

Throughout the day, they explored local art installations and significant cultural sites, participated in a hands-on art workshop using natural materials, and engaged in meaningful discussions about First Nations culture, history, and ways to respectfully embed Indigenous perspectives into our everyday curriculum.

We are excited to bring our learnings back to the service and continue creating meaningful opportunities for children to connect with and learn about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures.

We thank Delvene, local Elders, and Lady Gowrie Queensland for providing such a valuable and inspiring experience. 💛🖤❤️

Our kindergarten children have been busy exploring creativity through our recycled collage wall 🎨🌿

Using repurposed materials, the children engaged in a rich sensory painting experience—feeling different textures, experimenting with colour, and expressing their ideas in unique and meaningful ways. From smooth cardboard to rough natural elements, every touch invited curiosity and discovery.

This hands-on provocation not only supports fine motor development and creative expression, but also nurtures environmental awareness. By reusing everyday materials, children are learning the importance of sustainability and how small actions can help care for our planet 🌏

🏗️ Duplo City in Progress 🏙️

Over several days, children have been building, revisiting, and extending their Duplo city together. Guided by an emergent curriculum, their ideas shaped the project as they collaborated, shared materials, and planned new additions.

Through construction play, children strengthened problem-solving skills, spatial awareness, communication, and teamwork — while building a strong sense of belonging and pride in their shared creation.
