Following on from last week's visit to the Frog Workshop, this week we had two very special visitors....Gaston and Donk! 🐸🐸 We have also been singing, reading about frogs, pretending to be frogs and we made a paper plate frog with a flicking tongue. We also enjoyed learning about the life cycle of a frog with various activities to make it fun. 🐸

This morning we attended a frog workshop. It was very interesting, lots of fun facts and interactive activities. The lady told us about habitats, camouflage techniques and the frog life cycle. We got to create a habitat of our choice..... we chose to camouflage a green tree frog with sticks and leaves. All the children then teamed up to make a frog hotel! Afterwards we visited the library and managed to find three frog books for next week, when we will be doing more frog activities.🐸

Today on the farm, Old McDonald had some piggies. We learned that pigs are very clever, Mummy Pig likes to sing to her piglets while they are feeding and that they like to cool down by rolling in the mud. We made snouts and tails, played with our pigs in the mud, found lots of pig facts in our animal books, and practiced our counting with Pop the Pig. 🐷😎

Over the next few weeks, our theme will be Old McDonald Had A Farm. This morning, the children have been learning about cows in particular, and where milk comes from. We had a lovely surprise when our friend Daisy the Cow popped in to say hello! πŸ„

Backyard Campout Day 4..... today is the final day of our campout, so we finished off with a good old-fashioned Fun Day. I put coloured balls, confetti filled balloons and the bubble machine into the tent, and played our favourite dance tunes. The children went a little bit crazy and everyone had a blast. πŸ”΄πŸ”΅πŸŸ’πŸŸ‘ 🎈

Backyard Campout Day 3....Fishing! 🐟🐠 🎣
This morning I helped the children to make fishing rods using branches, string and magnets. They then attached paperclips to the fish and released them into the 'pond!' Everyone was delighted every time they caught the fish, and we discussed the different colours, more and less than, bigger and smaller than etc. We also used a fishing worksheet to practice tracing shapes, and played our favourite fishing game. 🐟🐟

We discussed briefly how the magnets worked and enjoyed playing with our magnetic tiles, but we will investigate this further in the near future. 🧲

LEARNING OUTCOME 1:2d - Child actively participates in group experiences and shows interest in their peers.

Backyard Campout Day 2 - Today the children made a pretend campfire! We had a good old-fashioned clap and sing-along and stories. Then we made s'mores on a stick and had yummy hot chocolate. 😊 I also used this as an opportunity to discuss real fire and campfire safety rules. πŸ”₯

Backyard Campout.....Day 1- The children were super excited to play in the tent. They played with torches and books, boardgames and puzzles, and made their own cute little coloured lanterns. They loved it so much that they wanted to stay there for rest time, so we did! β›Ί

Yesterday the children went on a lovely nature walk to gather leaves, twigs, sticks and rocks, and this morning they had great fun serving up such delights as stick stew, mud pies and yucky mucky ice-cream in Our Messy Cafe! πŸ‚πŸŒΏπŸͺ΅
