Here's today's cyber security challenge: update your devices!

Updates are one of the strongest defences in your security toolkit.

Cyber criminals hack devices by using known weaknesses in systems or apps. Updates have security upgrades to fix these weaknesses. You can turn on automatic updates so that this happens without your input.

Don’t know how to update your devices? It’s okay, you’re not the only one 😊

🌐 Check out the information on how to update your devices at 👉

Tomorrow is World Elder Abuse Awareness Day.

Elder abuse is mistreatment of an older person by someone they trust, including partners, guardians, or family members. It comes in many forms including physical, financial and psychological abuse.

On this day we’d like to take the opportunity to share a really important reminder about a person or an organisation you may have asked to help you with your Centrelink, Child Support or Medicare business. A representative should be someone you trust to act in your best interests. If you need, you can end a voluntary arrangement at any time.

If you've registered to donate your organs, have you told your family? 🤔

It's super important to prepare them so they're comfortable making a decision when the time comes. Donating your organs and tissues after you die will only happen with your family's support and consent.

It's a sensitive subject, so we have some tips on how to talk about it with your loved ones. 👇

If you or your family have questions about organ donation, head to for more information.

Not all organ donations happen after death. If you're interested to learn more about living donors, tune in to episode 10 of our podcast, It Can't Hurt To Ask. Listen wherever you get your podcasts. 🎧

Myth: Dementia is just being a bit forgetful.

Dementia is not just being a bit forgetful and symptoms are not always limited to memory. Dementia can affect thinking and memory, as well as behaviour. Brain function is affected enough to interfere with someone’s normal social or working life.

We all forget things from time to time, but the loss of memory with dementia is very different. It is persistent and progressive, not just occasional.

For more information about memory loss associated with dementia visit:

Beware of websites with misleading information about bonus Centrelink payments!

Unofficial websites and social media accounts are sharing misleading information about bonus Centrelink payments. They encourage you to click on their site to read about a new ‘one off payment’ or ‘bonus payment’. They’re currently targeting older Australians by falsely saying there’s a bonus payment coming for people on Age Pension.

If you visit one of these websites or click their links, it may take you to an unsafe scam web page designed to steal your personal information.

Don’t trust these unofficial websites for advice about Centrelink payments. Only go to our official Services Australia website to get information about the payments and services we deliver.

For more information, go to:

A new Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) report shows that people over 65 were more likely to lose money to scams than any other age group and were the only age group that lost more money in 2023 than in 2022.

The new report also indicated that older people suffered the greatest losses and there was a notable increase in scams originating on social media.
