International Yoga Day 2020 was also the observance of the disappearance of our great param guru, Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura who is considered to be the pioneer of the mission to spread the teachings of Lord Chaitanya and the Holy Names all over the world.
Here is our humble attempt to honour his great desire of spreading the Holy Names to every town and village. May we ask for your support in helping us to share it far and wide. Namaste.

The transcendental prayer of Prahlad Maharaj:
"I offer my respectful obeisances unto Lord Nrsimhadeva, the source of all power. O my Lord who possesses nails and teeth just like thunderbolts, kindly vanquish our demonlike desires for fruitive activity in this material world. Please appear in our hearts and drive away our ignorance so that by Your mercy we may become fearless in the struggle for existence in this material world. May there be good fortune throughout the universe, and may all envious persons be pacified. May all living entities become calm by practicing Bhakti Yoga, for by accepting devotional service they will think of each other's welfare. Therefore let us all engage in the service of the supreme transcendence, Lord Sri Krishna, and always remain absorbed in thought of Him."
Srimad Bhagavatam 5.18.8-10

Why do we chant? For some reason or other we like doing this. I've been chanting these Transcendental Names for about 40 years now - many of you may be in a similar situation - have you actually ever thought, "How come I like this"? It's pretty simple. The lyrics are quite limited. There are less lyrics in this than there are in the simplest song so how is it that I have an attraction for it?
My spiritual teacher, Jagad Guru Siddhaswarupananda, says that the attraction that the atma has for these Transcendental Names, these Holy Names, is like the attraction that a fish has for water or that a child has for her parents. It is not something artificially created. This natural attraction exists in a dormant state in every person, but that attraction is covered by ignorance. As ignorance is gradually removed, one's natural attraction for the Holy Names increasingly manifests just as a diamond becomes increasingly brilliant as the dirt is removed from it. So here we are, transcendental fish attracted to the transcendental waters of the Holy Name.

Millions of people around the world practice yoga, in fact, it's become a multi million dollar industry. Most people engage in an activity because there is some benefit we derive from it. Our lives are benefit-driven and our yoga practice is no exception. We may engage in yoga practices for a more flexible back, enhanced breathing, better digestion or to achieve deeper relaxation. All of these yoga practices have their place and it's important to see them in perspective. But there will come a time in all of our lives when these practices will not help us at all. The ultimate benefit of yoga concerns us: our consciousness.

So much suffering is connected with death, yet death itself is not the real cause of suffering.
