Coach Jarrad’s take: don’t rush through the mini mal stage.

Mid-lengths and mini mals give you time to feel the wave, build better timing and understand what your board is doing under your feet.

They are not just a “step before a shortboard.” They can be one of the best tools for progression.

So before you size down too quickly, maybe enjoy this stage a little longer.

Big News at SurfLab this week.

We’re stoked to welcome former Championship Tour surfer and elite performance coach Jarrad Howse as our new Director of Surfing.

Jarrad has competed against the world’s best and coached some of surfing’s biggest names, including 3x World Champion Mick Fanning, Jordy Smith and Julian Wilson.

He now joins SurfLab to help shape our in-person coaching and online programs.
