During our Bush Kindy sessions lately, our children took some time to slow down, sit quietly and connect with the natural world around them. Through our Wonder Log, they were encouraged to use their senses and notice the little things.
What can you hear? What can you see? What can you smell? πŸ‘‚πŸ‘€πŸŒΈ

These simple moments of stillness create wonderful opportunities for children to build mindfulness, curiosity and a deeper appreciation for the world around them. πŸ’šπŸŒ³

πŸ–₯οΈπŸ”§ Little hands, big curiosity!

Miss JoJo introduced an old laptop to one of our kindergarten rooms, sparking plenty of curiosity and excitement. Together with Miss JoJo, the children used tools such as screwdrivers to carefully dismantle the laptop and explore the technology inside. πŸ’»πŸ”©

This hands-on learning experience encouraged the children to investigate, ask questions, problem solve and discover how different components work together. A wonderful way to nurture curiosity and a love of STEM! 🌟🧠

Our little learners explored beautiful ice creations made with flowers, leaves, and natural treasures, discovering what happens as the ice begins to melt.

These simple yet engaging experiences spark curiosity, encourage scientific thinking, and invite children to slow down and appreciate the beauty of the natural world.

During our last open gates week we learnt all about trees. The vital role they play in our environment, how they support wildlife, the shade and shelter they provide, and the many ways we can care for them.

Little Possums created a Belonging Tree giving each child the opportunity to leave their own handprint, symbolising that we are all connected to one another and to the natural world around us. It was a meaningful way to celebrate our sense of belonging while reflecting on the importance of trees in sustaining life.

This week has inspired us to slow down, appreciate the incredible gifts that trees provide, and recognise our shared responsibility to care for the world we all call home. πŸŒΏπŸ’š

🀍 Little hands, big discoveries 🀍

There’s something magical about getting hands-on with natural materials. As children squeeze, shape, and explore clay, they’re building fine motor skills, strengthening little hands, and expressing their creativity in their own unique way.

Every pinch, roll, and fingerprint tells a story. There’s no right or wrong, just the joy of creating. 🌿✨

Last week, Mr Leigh came to the rescue after discovering an abandoned baby joey in our back paddock near the community garden. πŸ¦˜πŸ’™

Thankfully, our tiny visitor was safely collected by a local wildlife rescuer and taken to Currumbin Wildlife Hospital, where it will receive the specialist care it needs.

We're hoping to receive updates on this little joey's progress soon and hope he is one day returned to the wild 🦘
