🌟 What a wonderful week of learning, laughter and imagination! 🦷✨

This week, we were fortunate to welcome Dr Stephanie from The Pediatric Dental Practice to our centre to talk with the children about how to look after their teeth, brush correctly, and keep their smiles healthy. 😁🪥

The children thoroughly enjoyed listening to stories and practicing their brushing skills on some furry friends, making learning about dental health both fun and engaging. A special thank you to Dr Stephanie (who is also the mum of one of our friends from the Muni Room) for generously giving her time to share her knowledge with our children. We truly appreciate your support and kindness! 💙

Our children then started their day's with warm welcomes and a cheerful Morning Yarning session. We sang our welcome song together, with children confidently joining in with the words and actions. 🎶

We enjoyed the stories My Bright Smile and Dr. Rabbit Meets a Brushalotamus, sparking conversations about healthy eating and how sugary treats can affect our teeth. The children shared their ideas and learned about the importance of looking after their smiles.

Our dental health learning continued with a hands-on dentist role-play experience. 🦷👩‍⚕️👨‍⚕️ Equipped with dentist kits, toothbrushes, teeth models and costumes, the children eagerly stepped into the roles of dentists, patients, doctors and nurses. They examined teeth, counted teeth, brushed away "plaque" and checked for cavities. The introduction of baby dolls extended the play even further as children demonstrated nurturing behaviours while caring for their patients.

At the activity tables, children challenged themselves with puzzles, showing great concentration, perseverance and problem-solving skills. 🧩 Whether working independently or alongside friends and educators, they celebrated each achievement and encouraged one another along the way.

Outdoor play was full of adventure! 🚲🏖️ Children rode bikes, dug in the sandpit, and engaged in imaginative play. One group created their very own bus on the deck, taking turns being the driver while singing The Wheels on the Bus together. It was wonderful to see their creativity, teamwork and confidence shine.

Today’s learning supported:
✨ Communication and language development
✨ Imagination and creative thinking
✨ Confidence and social skills
✨ Cognitive development and problem-solving
✨ Fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination
✨ Understanding health and wellbeing

We are so proud of the curiosity, kindness and enthusiasm our children demonstrated throughout the day! 💙

🌟 Learning Through Play Today in the Dulei room 🌟

Our day was filled with hands-on learning, movement, and creativity! 💙

During circle time, Miss Dek introduced Auslan signs for "Good Morning," "How are you today?", "help," "finish," "bird," and "fish" 🐦🐟. The children enjoyed using signs alongside our Good Morning song and revisited the sign for fish throughout the day.

📚 After reading 10 Cheeky Monkeys Jumping on the Bed, we explored the concept of opposites, focusing on "up" and "down" through movement and actions.

🎨 Creativity and sensory learning combined as children used sand to paint on the easel, engaging their whole bodies while developing coordination and imagination. To extend our World Ocean Day learning, the children created colourful fish collages, choosing their own fish colours and decorating them with confetti, strengthening their fine motor skills and pincher grasp.

🚲 Outdoor play encouraged problem-solving and resilience as children navigated bikes around obstacles, learning to find solutions independently. A mini yoga session, Row, Row, Row Your Boat, and ball passing games further supported social connections, turn-taking, and physical wellbeing.

It was wonderful to see the children building communication, creativity, independence, and confidence through play-based learning experiences throughout the day. 💛

Today's Parenting post:

💛 Your Voice Shapes Their World 💛

Repeated yelling at toddlers may affect their emotional well being and brain development. Not occasional raising of voice. Chronic, frequent yelling as a pattern.

A young child's brain is highly sensitive to stress. Frequent yelling floods their body with cortisol, the stress hormone. Over time, this can reduce gray matter in areas responsible for emotional regulation and memory. The damage is not just emotional. It is physical.

This does not mean parents must never yell. Everyone loses their temper. But chronic verbal aggression leaves a mark. The fix is not perfection. It is repair. Apologize. Hug. Try again tomorrow.

Your voice is powerful. Use it carefully.

🌿✨ A Wonderful Week of Learning and Discovery in the Muni Room ✨🌿

This week, the children in the Muni Room have been busy exploring, creating, and learning through play!

At the LEGO table, children used their imagination and problem-solving skills to build a variety of incredible creations. They experimented with different pieces, adapted their designs when structures became unstable, and proudly shared their ideas with friends and educators.

Our pegboard activity provided opportunities to strengthen fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination as children carefully grasped, pushed, and removed pegs. Many explored colours and patterns, while others created their own unique designs, demonstrating persistence, concentration, and creativity.

The magnetic shapes area was full of collaboration and discovery. Children investigated how the pieces connected and worked both independently and alongside their peers to construct towers, houses, and imaginative structures.

During our Morning Yarning Circle, children were warmly welcomed and participated in our welcome song and Greeting the World. As part of Reconciliation Week, we explored the importance of respect, caring for one another, our community, and our environment.

We also began learning about ways to care for our planet in preparation for World Environment Day. The children enjoyed reading Caring for Our Environment and Reduce, Reuse and Recycle, engaging in thoughtful discussions about recycling, reusing materials, and keeping our environment clean and healthy for future generations.

It has been wonderful to see the children developing their communication, problem-solving, creativity, and environmental awareness through meaningful play and conversations. We look forward to continuing our learning journey together next week! 💚🌏♻️
