Good Morning Benowa SS families.
We understand many families were disappointed that our Motherās Day event had to be cancelled twice due to the ongoing wet weather and because of very low order numbers. We know how special these events are for our students and their mothers, grandmothers, carers, and loved ones. We can assure you, the P&C who are mothers of children at our school, share that disappointment too.
To clarify, the first planned event was intentionally not marketed due to the forecast wet weather and uncertainty around whether it could proceed. Unfortunately, despite rescheduling, the second event also faced challenges with weather and then very low order numbers, which can also be partly attributed to the lack of marketing by the P&C.
Our P&C tries hard to organise these events for our school community. Two years ago, we made the decision to change the normal Mothers day stall to a community breakfast event so mothers, grandmothers, carers, and loved ones could come together with children and be celebrated. We want to assure you that every effort was made to make this event possible. We welcome all feedback and suggestions for improvement to our events and want to assure you all we have taken on the feedback given around cancellations of events due to weather over the past year.
We are working closely with the school to explore better wet weather options for future events so we can avoid this situation occurring again in the future, such as holding the event in the Hall. Our next P&C meeting is tonight in the staff room of the administration building at the school at 5.30pm.
We will be discussing this matter and welcome your attendance or feedback to share at this event. If you would like to share something, but are unable to attend, you can email this through to the President of the P&C: [email protected]
Once again, we are incredibly grateful to the businesses and community members who generously donated giftware for our Motherās Day hampers. Rather than let these beautiful gifts go to waste, raffle ticket sales have now reopened as of today and will remain available until Friday morning.
There are 20 hampers to be won:
š 4 large hampers
š 16 smaller hampers
Winners will be drawn Friday morning and contacted via email or phone.
If you have purchased a mothers day breakfast pack and havent been contacted yet, please contact the P&C to organise a refund or to apply your credit towards raffle tickets.
Thank you to everyone who continues to support our P&C and our school community with kindness and understanding.

Dear Parents and Carers,
Unfortunately, we have made the decision to cancel the Motherās Day breakfast event due to the low number of orders received, which has made it unsustainable to continue with the event.
In addition, ongoing wet weather conditions mean the oval would be too wet to safely and comfortably use.
We understand this may be disappointing, and we appreciate your understanding and support. As the wet weather was also a factor in the original postponement, we are taking this opportunity to reflect on how we plan future events. Moving forward, we will ensure that alternative wet weather arrangements are considered so that Mothers day and Fathers day events can still proceed where possible.
Families who have already made payment will be contacted directly and given the option of either receiving a full refund or having their payment transferred towards raffle tickets.
The raffles will still go ahead and, once this message has been sent to families, the raffle option will be turned back on through Flexischools to allow additional tickets to be purchased if you wish.
Thank you again for your understanding and continued support of our school community.
Kind regards,
Benowa State School P&C
P&C President

Good morning families,
You may have noticed that we havenāt yet shared any communication regarding our Motherās Day event. Due to a number of factors, primarily the wet condition of the grounds, we have made the decision to postpone our Motherās Day BBQ.
The event will now be held on Friday, 22nd May.
We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding. We recognise how important it is to celebrate our mums, and we look forward to doing so together, even if itās a little later than planned.
Thank you for your continued support.

6:15pm General Meeting
There are three separate programs this night. If you plan on having an active engagement in the P&C and School this year, then coming to all three would be advisable. It will be important information for all concerned.
Our numbers at the last meeting were VERY encouraging and many more have expressed interest in attending this month. Please come along and join us.
The meeting will be held in the Staff Room of the main administration building.
Remember,
The P&C is made up of parents.....just like you! The primary goal of the P&C is to enhance the educational opportunities for the students at our school. But along with that, it is also a great platform to:
-Build lifelong friendships with other like-minded parents.
-Enhance your skill set.
-Become more informed on important school matters and policies and provide parent input.
-Give back to our wonderful school community.
-And most importantly, have fun!
