Arrrr Me Hearty’s 🏴‍☠️
What a day of swashbuckling fun we had on Pirate Day! We sailed the seven seas, searched high and low for the loot & buried treasure …. some of our scoundrel pirates were even made to walk the plank! ☠️
All this fun and we also raised some golden loot for Childhood Cancer as part of our Annual Pirate Day 💰💰

Our perfect little patients were given a check up and a lesson on looking after those precious teeth 🤩

This week is NAIDOC Week and what better way to engage with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures than by using some Bush Tucker from our Kindy garden to flavour some "Kindy Made" Damper. This morning Mr Sean and the Junior Kindy children collected Lemon Myrtle Leaves in the coolamon before crushing them to add to the delicious damper ingredients.
Did you know that damper is a bread originally made by Aboriginals for many thousands of years by crushing a variety of native seeds, and sometimes nuts and roots, into a dough before baking in the coals of a fire?

As Educators at Ashmore Community Children’s Centre we are woven into the history and culture of a Kindy that has shaped the lives of children and their families for over 40 years. Today it was a pleasure to welcome back some past Educators and one of our past Directors from over 20 years ago! ♥️
It was a lovely trip down memory lane for these beautiful ladies, who were excited to see the evolution of the Centre and all the changes that have occurred in the past two decades. ♥️

Today along with millions of children and adults across Australia we gathered for National Simultaneous Storytime and all read the same book at the same time!
The book was “Luna Roo the Kangaroo Baller”, it shares a message of perseverance and teamwork. Our children extended on this theme through testing their soccer/ football skills, creating art and role playing the story.
