What a day.


He's still got it. I caught up for lunch with one of the few men who have quietly altered the direction of my life and significantly contributed to my lifelong need for sunscreen.


Laurie Lawrence remains one of my favorite human beings. Those who know him personally will understand.


Currumbin Beach, Pacific Parade, is still one of the most breathtaking and wildest spots you’ll ever experience. I had goosebumps as a rush of memories flooded back from this place.

The 2024 Australian National Drowning Report serves as a heartbreaking reminder of water’s dangers, particularly for children under 5.

In 2024, 15 young lives were lost to drowning, with 13 being boys. This highlights the urgent need for greater awareness, preventive measures, and education.

The report stresses that drowning is a leading cause of accidental death in young children, often occurring in home pools.

It calls for stronger water safety campaigns, better access to swimming lessons, and stricter pool safety regulations.

Parents and caregivers are urged to supervise children, maintain safety barriers, and learn CPR to prevent these tragedies.

Usually this time of year there's a post giving you 12 good reasons why you should do swimming through winter.

Lucky for you this isn't one of those posts. 🍀

This is just a quick reminder for you what to do if you don't book in swimming lessons during winter.

Swimming is very much the 'doing sport'. The more the kids are in the water regardless whether it's in lessons or playing with mum and dad - the better they get.

Enjoy the 10 weeks away from lessons - but be sure to bring the kids down to the pool once or twice a week.

You don't have to bring in a structured approach just let them have fun. Bring a whole new enjoyment to it.

On the first day of summer you will know whether the time you've spent with your child in the water has been worth it.

He asked his Dad if he they could travel up to Brisbane to watch the Olympic Trials. They did. He loved it.


Turned up the following Sunday and wanted to race me.
And Yes..I let him win.


This may be his last term with Breeswim as the next challenge awaits. Wish you every success buddy.

Met 4 Top Artists in their fields in one week.

First shout out goes to Jimeoin What a pleasure this dude is. My younger brother Richie Bree has been supporting him for his comedy tours in Ireland. We enjoyed a beer with this comedy genius during his sold-out performances at Brisbane's Fringe Festival. Got some good golf tips..

A very close 2nd. Foy Vance 👈and King Cedar Dam these two are unbeleiveable. What a fantastic show. Thank you for the opporunity to meet you both and experience the sentimental storm of your music.

Sneaky 3rd goes to Brett Hawke. X Australian Olympic Swimmer - Now a high performance coach with an aboslute beast of a hunger to bring the sport of swimming much needed collaboration and continious growth. Keep an eye out for the 'Sprint Revolution. Thanks for the opporunity to watch.

Last but not least.
Andrew Bree. He cant sing or tell jokes for sh*t - but he makes up for it as the big brother. My boys love their Uncle Andrew. My Breeswim students ask for you nearly a little too much. A short stay (maybe) but an impact that will create the best memories of 2023. Love ya mate.

Seeing double. 👈

Last Sunday we were lucky enough to be joined by my older brother Andrew Bree.

A two-time Olympian, having swum at the 2000 and 2008 Olympics for Ireland - it was safe to say he was the only one in the pool who could beat me in a race that day.......maybe.

I hope he can join us again before he leaves.

In case you missed it..

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk recently launched a new lifesaving program, aimed at teaching Queensland kids how to swim.

The SwimStart initiative will provide greater access to swimming lessons for children aged 0 – 4 in a bid to improve Water Safety.

Eligible families will be able to apply for vouchers valued up to $150, amounting to a $4.8 million investment over two years from the Palaszczuk Government in the upcoming State Budget.
