Sunshine - Is it good or bad?
Interesting question and there is definetly a lot of confusion around it..

The plants and trees that give us oxygen and food need sunlight to grow. Without its heat, the earth would freeze over. Sunlight also effects our sleep pattern (or circadian rhythm). It also plays a major role in important bodily functions that keep us healthy and prevent disease☀️

Considering all of these amazing things (there's many more I didn't mention) the sun still seems to get a pretty bad wrap.. Most of us have been taught to fear the sun and as a result most of us are deficient in vitamin D (yes even in Australia) 😅

While it's definetly not a good idea to go out and get burnt, regular natural sunlight is an important part of a healthy lifestyle and preventing disease - recent studies prove this. If you have quite fair skin, maybe just start out with 10 minutes of morning sun and build it up over time.

If you're worried about getting burnt, try getting some sunshine earlier in the day or late in the afternoon. Another thing you can do is to focus on clearing out the skin from years of using chemical based products - when the skin gets clogged up, not only will you burn easier in the sun - but these clogged up chemicals in the skin are likely to hugely increase the chances of developing into something more sinister down the track.

Two Simple Solutions!
1. Sweat more and focus on cleaning out the chemicals that have clogged up in the skin - dm me for details of a skin scrub you make at home that does this in an incredible way - this was shown to me by one of my mentors
2. Look at the ingredients of anything you're putting on your skin - anything you wouldn't eat try not to use it on your skin (it only takes around 30 seconds to absorb into the blood stream) - this shocked me when I started looking at things I was using every day.

Enjoy life, get some regular sunshine and have some fun with it ☀️🌴💧

Want to improve your performance both physically and mentally?

Everybody knows that when we eat a heavy meal, we often become tired and lethargic. This is because complex foods require a complex digestive process.

Top tip: For increased energy and clarity throughout the day - try to eat only fruit for your first meal - Your body and mind will thank you 🍉🍋🍍

Top tip - For increased energy and focus, only eat fruit until midday. If you are already intermittant fasting until midday, make fruit your first meal for the day.

Everyone knows that heavy meals make you tired and lethargic, that's because complex foods require a complex digestion process (and a lot of energy). For increased performance, start the day with fruit - your body and mind will thank you 🍉🍇🍍🍋

Water - The Gift of Life...

Why is it so important to have clean water?

Something as simple as filtering your water can have a huge impact to your health, longevity and even your day to day clarity and focus... So, what do we need to filter out of the tap water and why?

The two main things you want to make sure you filter out of your water is the chlorine / chloramine and fluoride and here's why..

Chlorine and chloramine are used to kill the bad bacteria in the water which is good in theory, although it also kills off the good bacteria in the gut when we drink it. When your gut is lacking good bacteria, your immune system is also compromised..

Did you know gut bacteria produce about 95% of the bodies serotonin (happy hormone) and due to this gut-brain connection, drinking unfiltered water can also cause brain fog and lack of concerntration 🧠

Fluoride - There are different types of fluoride - some naturally occuring and some synthetic. The synthetic versions are added to our water to help protect our teeth. Again, good in theory although studies have also pointed to synthetic fluoride being a carcinogenic, hormone disruptor, cognitive supressor and actually having the opposite effect on teeth due to too much of the wrong type of fluoride. There is a huge list of the other downfalls, I've just pointed out a few.

Simple Solution - Invest in a water filter that filters both chlorine and fluoride. Send me a message if you'd like me to point you in the direction of a quality filter 👌💧

If you learnt something from this post like it, save it and share it with your friends and family 👍🙏

Ever wonder why you sometimes wake up with a smelly breath and maybe even a bad taste in your mouth?

That is because your body has begun a natural detoxification process that starts around 8 hours after your last meal. As soon as we eat our first meal for the day, our bodies immediately stop the ‘house cleaning’ and begin digestion..

With that being said, most of us never really give our bodies the opportunity to go through that full detoxification process, so as you could imagine, toxins build up throughout the body which can be the triggering cause to a range of different issues and diseases down the track!

With food more easily available than ever before in most of the world, we tend to live in a society where a) we overeat and b) we don’t give our digestive systems much needed rest (I was both a and b). Over time, this lifestyle can lead to chronic congestion and disease.

Intermittent fasting also reduces body fat and significantly increases human growth hormone (HGH) which naturally promotes cellular regeneration and can actually increase muscle growth when coupled with intense training (I’ll have to do another post on this). ✊💪

So, how do you do it?
Basically it’s as easy as having a late breakfast and maybe having an earlier dinner if you usually eat late. The thing I love about it is you can start gently by having a 12 hour eating window with only water outside of that (8am - 8pm) and as your body becomes used to it, decrease this eating window (I find that 12pm - 6pm works great). You might even decide that you only want to do it Monday - Friday every week and then have the weekends off. There’s a couple of different ways to incorporate intermittent fasting into your routine, some people just do a 24 fast once or twice a week because they find that works better for them. A great first meal after breaking-fast is a big bowl of fresh fruit 🍇🍍🍉

Huge benefits, easy to do and easy to incorporate into your routine!

Easy change - your body will thank you 🙌

I used to notice I'd feel a little funny after eating my oats and I'm sure I'm not the only one 🤔

Conventially grown oats contain a cocktail of chemicals and other additives to grow and preserve them, which can cause inflammation in the digestive system and lead to further issues down the track...

When grown organically, oats can be such a highly nutritious meal, nourishing your body with a huge range of nutrients without the side effects! 🌱

Switching your daily dose of oats over to an organic version is an easy way to reap the rewards of eating oats without causing inflammation and toxic buildup in the body 😁✊

Unfortunately since rubber sole shoes were invented, we have been blocking a very natural process of 'grounding' or 'earthing'. Every single time your feet come in contact with the earth, you're instantly reducing inflammation in the body - Inflammation and chronic inflammation is a major cause of many diseases..

This is something that's so easy to do every day but also something that most people don't realise is so important for their health!

How to Earth? 🌏

It's as simple as stepping outside and spending some time on the grass, sand, rocks or dirt. These days, you can even buy grounding products like bed sheets and grounding mats to put under your desk while you are working 👌

Swipe to see the effect that grounding has on the blood!

Pineapples and Radiation - For me, I really find it fascinating the effect food can have on the body, pineapples are a great example of just that..

These days the heavy effects of heavy radiation are becoming more of a concern for many as we're running into more and more of it on a daily basis. Little known fact is that the humble pineapple has an enzyme in it called bromelain which has been proven to protect your cells from radiation!

Pineapples are also great for helping to break down undigested food and clean out your digestive tract - I can definitely vouch for this 👌

A pineapple a day keeps the radiation away 🍍🍍

This is just one of the hundreds of benefits of fasting! Lots of studies show that a high consumption of animal protein raises IGF-1 levels in the body..

Other than fasting, a simple way you can lower this is by reducing your meat consumption and replace it with some fresh fruits and vegges 🍉🍍 You could even start with replacing one meal a week with a healthy veggie alternative and go from there 💪

Little steps today can have a big impact tomorrow 😁

14 days off solid foods, 7 on juice and 7 on only water and I broke the fast with a big jug of beer 😁🍻 (Only joking that's rockmelon juice)

What an incredible experience! Definitely one of the most mentally and physically challenging things I've ever done but also one of the best things. A little more than two years ago I would hardly spend more than 3 waking hours without eating let alone 14 days. Really has brought back my appreciation for food and I got to witness a lot of toxic buildup released in the process (you can dm me if you want more details on that 😅)

I've had lots of people ask why I'm only drinking water and probably lots that don't know much about fasting that I'm sure think I'm crazy so I thought I'd add a couple of fun facts about what happens to the body when you only consume water for an extended period..

💧My favourite part is that when a constant flow of food isn't available, this triggers a process where the cells and organs are finally able to dump a huge amount of toxic waste and acids that they've been holding onto (especially the liver in my experience). This isn't pretty but wow it's good to get it out!

💧Another awesome thing that happens during a water fast is a process called autophagy. Basically the body regenerates or replaces damaged cells and breaks down and self digests foreign proteins (cysts, tumors, polyups, skin tags etc) for fuel.

The list of benefits goes on and on and science has only just scratched the surface with it!

Onto the next chapter for me, I've just started this page where I'll be sharing lots about simple things you can do to get the most out of your body and prevent disease, jump on and give it some love 🧠😁

Side note, I wouldn't just recommemd jumping into a water fast without knowing what you're doing - this can be dangerous (I did that about a year and a half ago and it wasn't pretty).

Greatful for the experience and looking forward to the rebuild! 🙏

Cheers to food 🍉 Cheers to health 🍻
