A Symphony of Stories — Book Week 2026 📚🎶
This Book Week, we’re celebrating “A Symphony of Stories” — where every story has its own rhythm, every character has a voice, and every child brings their own imagination to the page.
Through books, children explore new worlds, discover different perspectives, build language and express their own ideas through storytelling, music, movement, creativity and play.
Next week, children and educators are invited to dress up as their favourite book characters and bring the magic of stories to life! ✨
Let’s all join in the fun, celebrate our favourite books and characters, and create our very own symphony of stories together.

Sandpit Curiosity
What happens when we give children the time and space to explore?
In the sandpit, a simple handful of sand can become a recipe, a construction site, a treasure, a landscape or something completely imagined. ✨
We love following where children's ideas take them — because sometimes the richest learning begins with simply wondering, “What if…?”

When children are given the freedom to explore, create and make meaning, every leaf, stick and flower can become part of their story.
A simple invitation that encouraged curiosity, creativity, fine motor skills and a deeper connection with the natural world. 🌱💚
We love seeing how children transform what they find in nature into something truly special!

🌿 Our First Excursion to Numinbah Valley! 🌿
What a beautiful first excursion for our Pre-Kindy children! 💚
This week, our little explorers had the opportunity to connect with Country and experience the beauty of Numinbah Valley. From bush walks and exploring nature to gathering around the fire pit, baking damper and enjoying some quiet time resting in the sunshine, every moment was filled with curiosity, wonder and connection.
It was also a beautiful opportunity to strengthen our connections with our little community, families and educators. A huge thank you to all our wonderful parents and volunteers who joined us and helped make this experience so special.
So many beautiful memories made together! 🌿✨

There is something so special about watching children discover the world through light! 🌈✨
Our nursery classroom has been thoughtfully set up with light provocations that invite our babies to explore colours, shadows, shapes and reflections.
As they experiment, move objects and observe what happens, our babies are developing curiosity, sensory awareness and a sense of wonder through hands-on exploration.
We love creating simple, meaningful experiences that allow our youngest learners to discover, investigate and learn at their own pace.

At Gumleaf Gully, children’s health and wellbeing is always a priority 💦
We make water easily accessible to children at all times and include regular water breaks throughout the day, encouraging children to create small healthy habits and to develop a positive relationship with looking after their own wellbeing.
Cleaning their water bottle regularly is an important part of our role as educators and parents, helping to ensure children have access to clean, fresh water and reducing the build-up of bacteria and germs. It is a simple but important step in caring for their health and wellbeing.

Learning made Visible
A floor book is so much more than a place to record what happened — it’s a space where children’s voices, ideas, drawings, questions and discoveries come together.
When children participate in documenting their learning, they become active contributors to the story of their own experiences. They can revisit what they did, share their ideas, remember previous discoveries and help shape where the learning goes next.
We love seeing children point, draw, scribble, add their ideas and proudly recognise their own contributions. Their voices matter, and their learning deserves to be visible.

✨ The magic of loose parts! ✨
Give children a bucket full of yoghurt lids and watch their creativity unfold.
There’s no right or wrong way to play with loose parts — they can become anything children imagine! From building and sorting to creating stories, patterns and little worlds, the possibilities are endless.
Recycled loose parts truly are one of the best resources. They encourage creativity, problem-solving, imagination and open-ended learning — all from something that might otherwise end up in the bin!
Sometimes, the simplest resources create the biggest possibilities.
