Last week we had the pleasure of welcoming the Macfarlane Bros to campus for the Bond x Essential Screen Skills Future Filmmakers Conference! The MacFarlane brothers are Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) nominated, The Webby Awards award-winning content creators, most well known for their short-form content packed with visual effects - with over 500 million views and 2 million followers in the digital space! They have collaborated with global brands including Apple, Google, Warner Bros, Universal, Amazon Prime, Foxtel and ABC. To top it off, they have spent their spare time interviewing the cast of Avatar, Stranger Things, How to Train Your Dragon, the Backrooms - to name a few. Oh not just the cast, did we almost forget to mention… James Cameron, the Duffer brothers, Dean DeBlois, the Russo brothers, while also attending glamorous red-carpet film international premiers in amongst speaking at global film festivals and creative conferences.
Their journey began by entering BUFTA nearly ten years ago, and now it's your turn!

Last week we had the pleasure of welcoming 2025 BUFTA Best International Filmmaker, Alexander Salomon from California to the Bond campus! 🏆
As the recipient of 2025 BUFTA Best International Filmmaker for his film ‘Sunrise Falling’, Alexander received a $3000 travel voucher, with an exciting itinerary to see the Gold Coast and Bond University! His itinerary involves some of the Gold Coast’s most iconic tourist spots, including beaches, HOTA (Home of the Arts) and Warner Bro’s Movie World theme park, as well as a campus tour, including our Film and TV Studios! This prize is in collaboration with Experience Gold Coast.

Introducing the 2025 BUFTA Best Overall Filmmaker, Evie Philp! 🌟
Evie was awarded Best Music Video for her music video ‘Take your pick’, as well as Best Experimental film and the Overall Best Filmmaker award for her film ‘FOLDED’, earning her a full scholarship to study Film and Television at Bond.
Evie’s strength as a film maker was immediately obvious when she excelled in two completely different categories, winning her Overall Best Filmmaker.
