🍰 Kindergarten Cooking Fun! 👩‍🍳👨‍🍳

Today our Kindergarten children enjoyed a fun cooking experience with Miss Therese, making a delicious vanilla cake! 🎂

The children all took turns adding the ingredients and mixing everything together. It was wonderful to see everyone patiently waiting for their turn and helping to create their yummy cake.

After lunch, it was finally time for the best part taste testing! The children enjoyed a piece of their homemade vanilla cake, and it was very yummy!

What a fun way to learn, work together and enjoy something they made themselves. 💕🍰

🐊🐍 Wildlife Encounters Visit! 🐢🦎

On Thursday, our Kindergarten children had an absolutely fantastic visit from Katie from Wildlife Encounters! 🌿💚
We were incredibly lucky to meet some amazing Australian animals, including Penelope the turtle, Bella the blue-tongue lizard, Stitch the bearded dragon, Lucy the children’s python, Snow White the albino olive python, and even a little crocodile named Crunch! 🐊

Throughout the visit, the children had lots of opportunities to safely hold, touch and closely observe the animals. Some of our very brave Kindy friends even chose to have a snake draped around their necks or a reptile sit on their heads! 😲🐍
Katie shared so many interesting facts about each animal, including where they live, what they eat, how they survive in the wild and why it is so important to care for Australia’s unique wildlife. 🇦🇺🌿

It was wonderful to see the children showing so much curiosity, confidence and respect. They asked lots of questions, shared their ideas and were so excited to get up close with these incredible animals.
What an amazing hands-on learning experience for our Kindy children and definitely one they will remember! 💚🐢🐍🦎🐊
A huge thank you to Katie from Wildlife Encounters for such a fantastic visit! 🌿✨

Today we say goodbye to Miss Kelly as she finishes her journey at Goodstart Tallebudgera after an incredible 18½ years of dedication, care, and commitment to our children, families, and team.
Kelly has touched the lives of so many children over the years, creating countless happy memories and making a lasting difference in our community. While we're sad to see her leave her permanent role, we're so grateful that we may still be lucky enough to see her pop in for some casual shifts from time to time.

Kelly, thank you for your kindness, passion, and the love you've shared with every child and family you've met along the way. You will be greatly missed, and Goodstart Tallebudgera won't be the same without you.

Please join us in wishing Kelly all the very best for this next chapter. 💐💙 We will miss you so much, Kelly!

The research is clear 📚 reading aloud is one of the most powerful things we can do for our children.

When we read with a child, we’re doing far more than sharing a story. We’re building the foundations for language, confidence, curiosity and a lifelong love of learning.

Decades of research shows that children who are read to regularly:

💛 Build stronger language skills
Hearing rich varied language in books exposes children to far more words than everyday conversation alone. This growing vocabulary helps them understand, communicate and make sense of the world.

💛 Develop early literacy skills long before they learn to read
Through stories, children learn how books work – that print carries meaning, that pages turn left to right, and that stories have a beginning, middle and end. These early understandings make learning to read feel familiar and exciting.

💛 Strengthen phonological awareness
Rhymes, rhythms and playful sounds help children hear the building blocks of language.

💛 Grow their comprehension and thinking skills
Talking together about a story, predicting what might happen, wondering how a character feels, and connecting events to real life helps children develop memory, problem-solving, and higher-order thinking.

💛 Experience connection, comfort and joy
Shared reading fosters calmness, closeness, and moments of joint attention. These warm interactions support a child's sense of security and belonging.

Most importantly, children who experience positive, engaging reading moments from a young age are more likely to develop a genuine love of books - something that matters even more than early literacy skills alone.

Reading is simple, joyful, and sets children up for success in school and life.
