At its heart, mud play is a return to something deeply human, its reconnection between children and the living world around them.
It is grounding, restorative, and deeply nourishing for the whole child. It supports emotional regulation, curiosity, and a quiet sense of connection to something larger than themselves: the earth itself.
When children engage with mud, soil, water, and natural materials, they begin to see the earth not as something separate from them, but as something they are part of.
This early sense of connection builds an intuitive respect for nature — not through instruction, but through lived experience.
They learn that the ground beneath them is alive, changeable, and full of possibilities.
A simple patch of dirt becomes a place of discovery — where worms appear, water disappears into soil, and textures shift with each handful.
These small moments awaken curiosity and help children see beauty in simplicity, slowing them down to notice what is often overlooked.
This sensory-rich experience supports a genuine sense of belonging within the natural environment.
Children feel comfortable in nature, rather than visiting it as something “separate” or unfamiliar. They develop confidence outdoors, learning that they can explore, adapt, and interact with the world around them safely and joyfully.

Welcome Winter
It’s that time of year again, when we gather around the fire pit, roast delicious peanuts, and enjoy a simple snack under the open sky🤤
As the peanuts crackle over the fire, we sit together, listening to stories, sharing laughs, and soaking up these special moments.
There’s something truly magical about slowing down, connecting with one another, and embracing the cosy rhythm of the season.
Simple traditions, warm hearts, and beautiful memories. Welcome, winter—we’re ready for you.

As someone who works in early childhood, I completely understand why new policies around sharing children’s photos are becoming stricter.
Technology is changing rapidly, and protecting children’s safety and privacy must always come first. I truly respect and support that.
But I can’t help feeling disappointed that we are reaching a point where even photos of children playing — without faces visible, without names, without identifying details — are no longer allowed in some settings. It feels inconsistent and, honestly, a little sad.
The reason I felt compelled to talk about this today is because my daycare children had the most incredible mud play session outdoors.
The joy, laughter, teamwork and pure childhood magic happening in those moments was absolutely priceless.
Watching them fully immersed in play with muddy hands, wet boots, happy squeals and all, reminded me exactly why childhood deserves to be celebrated.
It’s such a shame that I can’t safely share even a small glimpse of those beautiful moments here to put a smile on your face too.
These posts were never about exposure, they were about CONNECTION. # Continued in the comments below ⬇️

Today’s signature dish from our Mud Kitchen Restaurant: Ocean Breeze Forest Broth 😋
Handcrafted by our tiny chefs using a delicate blend of rainforest herbs, mystery berries, sparkling blue “lagoon sauce,” and a rich earthy reduction topped with hand-tied grass ribbons for presentation.
Honestly… why does this look like something you’d pay $42 for at a fancy restaurant with tiny portions and no kids’ menu?
The vibrant blue broth? Mesmerising.
The rustic mud infusion? Bold.
The floating bubbles? Chef’s kiss.
The hunger it unexpectedly triggered in me? Concerning.
Meanwhile the children proudly served it like:
“Careful, it’s very hot and extremely expensive.”
Imagination, nature, messy play, and five-star confidence all in one magical creation

Bush turkeys have been exploring the Educaring Yard and making a big messy mess by scratching through the leaves, mulch, and dirt with their strong feet. They love digging big piles to search for bugs, worms, seeds, and fruit to eat.
Bush turkeys also build giant warm nests for their eggs, almost like a big compost heap made from leaves and soil. The warm nest helps keep the eggs cosy until the baby chicks are ready to hatch.
When the baby bush turkeys hatch, they dig themselves out of the nest all on their own and are ready to run, explore, and look after themselves straight away!

Almost 30 years working in the education field… wow, that really went fast.
It has been such a privilege to meet so many beautiful families and to be part of their children’s learning journeys. But what feels most precious to me are the deep, genuine connections we build along the way. Our time together becomes so meaningful that even when life takes us in different directions, the connection remains — still cheering each other on from afar.
Yesterday, I received the most special phone call from a lovely mama I’ve known for five years. I had the absolute joy of playing, learning, and bonding with all five of her children — something I will always carry in my heart. And today, I received a beautiful message from the gorgeous Soso and her mama.
These thoughtful gestures truly made my day. They remind me why I do what I do.
To all the families who have crossed my path — thank you. You leave little marks on my heart that will stay with me forever. I am deeply grateful and continually inspired by each of you 💛

Learning, creating, and enjoying every bite together 🍕
Rolling out the dough, spreading the sauce, adding cheese, tasty chicken, and a sprinkle of oregano — it sounds so yummy, doesn’t it?
Today we are preparing our delicious homemade pizzas for lunch!
Making food from scratch is such a beautiful learning experience. When children are involved in preparing their own meals, they’re more willing to try new ingredients and build a positive relationship with food.

Over the past few weeks, the children have been carefully observing our banana plant as it produced a beautiful bunch of bananas. They’ve been so excited, checking on them regularly and looking forward to the day we could finally taste them.
The bananas are still green and not quite ready yet. However, this morning we discovered that some cheeky possums had started eating them! So we decided to cut the bunch and bring it downstairs to ripen safely.
We learned that bananas continue to ripen once picked. To help the process, we covered them with paper and placed them in a bag to trap the natural gases they release, which helps them turn from green to yellow more quickly. We are also taking a few home to closely observe the changes as they ripen.
This experience is teaching the children about patience, caring for living things, problem-solving, and understanding natural life cycles. It’s been such a meaningful and hands-on learning journey.
And on a sweet note… Happy Bananatines Day for Saturday! 🍌💛
We love listening to the cicadas buzz and chirp in the warm summer weather.
Cicadas begin life underground and, when they are ready, they emerge and leave their crispy shells attached to tree trunks. Today we were lucky to find a living cicada.
They may be very noisy, but they are gentle and safe.
