Pacific Lutheran College’s Year 12 Geography students enjoyed one of the best K’gari experiences we have ever been on! Some pretty oppressive heat made swims at Eli Creek and Lake Mackenzie all the better! We collected some amazing field data and spent as much time exploring as much of the island as we could 🥰🏝️🐕

Benowa SHS used sites along the northern GC beaches to collect data for their Year 12 LCT field trip. Students had plenty of issues to investigate at these sites, from landscape-scale erosion to w**d infestation to encroachment. Such a great, accessible destination for data collection close to schools ☀️🏝️🧑🏽‍🔬

Southport SHS’s Year 8 Science Ac/Ex classes enjoyed their ‘Plate Tectonics’ field trip to Springbrook Mountain! It is the perfect destination for an excursion supporting this unit! The Gold Coast sits on the edge of one of the largest volcanoes to exist anywhere in the world in the last 100 million years. And it is the best example in the world of an eroded caldera. Students walked a 5km circuit to see basalt and rhyolite layers, and enjoyed some enchanting cool temperate rainforest down to the rim of the caldera and one of the greatest lookouts in the world!

Beechmont offers school groups some very unique experiences in far SEQ. It is one of the last dairies remaining in the area, and the only one this side of the Great Divide that will allow students to milk a cow! Cavendish Road SHS Year 9 students also fed and learned about beef cattle and goats and picked fresh Tahitian limes and enjoyed lime mocktails - all whilst collecting their field-work data 🐄🐐🍈

The Year 8 Geography “Place & Liveability” unit makes for a great field trip to educate student’s on how variables such as services, environment and community identity can affect the quality of life at different locations. Kawana Waters State College Year 8 students enjoyed a day out investigating aspects of “liveability” at the new Stockland “Aura” development and comparing this with a more established development at Caloundra 🌲🚛🏛️
