Community connections are such an important part of how children come to understand the world around them.
As an extension of our learning for First Responders Day, we recently welcomed a member of the Queensland Police Service to Play and Learn.
The visit provided children with an opportunity to engage in meaningful conversations, ask questions, and learn more about the role police officers play in helping and supporting our community. Through experiences like these, children are able to build connections with the people and services they see in their everyday lives, helping to foster confidence, familiarity, and a sense of belonging.
At Play and Learn, we believe children are active members of their community. By creating opportunities to connect with local organisations and community members, we help children develop an understanding of the many people who contribute to keeping our community safe, connected, and thriving.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the Queensland Police Service for sharing their time and supporting this valuable learning experience for our children.

What does genuinely embedding children's safety look like at Play and Learn? For us, it means recognising that children are people first. Children have a right to privacy, dignity, and protection, both within our centre and online.
That is why you will never see children's faces shared across our social media. While we love celebrating the learning, relationships, and experiences that unfold each day, we believe these stories can be told without compromising a child's identity.
The digital world lasts far longer than childhood. As the adults entrusted with children's care, we believe it is our responsibility to protect their privacy until they are old enough to make informed decisions about their own online presence.
Because children are not commodities to be promoted or content to be consumed. They are individuals with rights, dignity, and a future that deserves to be protected.

The most meaningful learning often begins with a child's story.
While creating a family portrait, one of our Senior Kindy children shared memories of visiting a strawberry farm. Her story sparked a discussion about strawberries and the tiny seeds found on the outside of the fruit.
Following the children's curiosity, we used magnifying glasses to investigate strawberry seeds before planting our own.
At Play and Learn, we believe learning is most meaningful when it grows from children's interests, questions, and experiences. A family photograph became a conversation, a conversation became an investigation, and an investigation became an opportunity to learn together.

Happy Birthday, to our wonderful Educator Chloe!
Birthdays provide an opportunity to pause, celebrate, and acknowledge the people who make our community what it is.
Today, we are celebrating Chloe and wishing her a day filled with happiness, connection, and all the things she loves most.
We hope your year ahead is filled with many special moments and wonderful memories.

We are so excited to begin embedding the KIDDO Physical Literacy Program into our learning community with Miss Krystyn.
At Play and Learn, we understand that physical literacy is about far more than developing physical skills. It supports children's confidence, wellbeing, resilience, coordination, and their lifelong relationship with movement.
As part of the rich learning experiences available to every child at our centre, the KIDDO program provides opportunities for children to develop movement competence, body awareness, confidence, and a genuine enjoyment of being active.
We are incredibly fortunate to have Miss Krystyn leading this journey, bringing her knowledge, expertise, and passion for physical literacy to our children each week.
This week, the Junior Kindy Two children began their first session, exploring movement, balance, coordination, and challenge through purposeful and engaging experiences. We look forward to watching their confidence, capability, and love of movement continue to grow throughout the year.

At Play and Learn, we understand that the pace of modern family life can often leave mornings feeling rushed.
One of the reasons we offer breakfast each morning is to create a little more space for connection before the day begins.
Knowing that breakfast is waiting at the centre means one less thing to prepare before leaving home. It creates opportunities for slower starts, easier transitions, and those small but meaningful moments that can so easily be lost in the rush of everyday life.
An extra cuddle on the couch. A conversation in the car. Time to finish a story, share a laugh, or simply enjoy being together a little longer.
For children, arriving knowing breakfast is available can support a calm and settled start to the day. For families, it offers the reassurance that mornings do not have to revolve around racing the clock.
While breakfast may seem like a simple inclusion, it reflects something we value deeply: creating conditions where children and families feel supported, connected, and able to begin the day at a gentler pace.
Because sometimes one less thing to prepare means one more moment together.

At Play and Learn, we believe learning is a lifelong journey for both children and Educators.
This week, our fabulous Early Childhood Teachers, Tamany and Kaitlyn, participated in a webinar with Seamann and Slattery exploring Dr. Clare Warden's Floor Book Approach, an area of practice that is currently inspiring their Kindergarten documentation. This approach supports educators to listen deeply to children, capture their ideas and theories, and keep their voices at the heart of the learning journey.
We are grateful to have such passionate educators as part of our learning community who are committed to reflecting, growing, and continually deepening their understanding of children and how they learn. When educators learn with curiosity and purpose, children benefit from richer, more meaningful learning experiences every day.
