Kids driving you crazy yet???

Hi my name is Maria. I have been in the education industry for over 20 years now!!! I love everything about learning. However, I never used to…You see I wasn’t a very academic kid growing up. I mean…I knew my ABC’s and 123’s (even though English wasn’t my first language)…I was more the creative type…you know, the girl in class who was always talking, laughing and looking out that window…dreaming of a reality that only existed in her mind. Teachers always told me I would never amount to much…yet here I sit typing this to you with three…yes 3… University degrees under my belt - all surrounded around childhood development, and over 20 years of experience working and running schools here in Australia and overseas!!!

I have a yearning to help make the education system, one that acknowledges and values ALL types of learners (growing up with 2 brothers who had hearing impairments…I saw first hand the missed opportunities they had because they didn’t fit the boxes of what society deemed at the time to be a ’good learner’)…

…but….

…so I want to bring all that knowledge and understanding I have acquired over the years to YOU!!!

- The parents who work so hard for their children’s future!
- The parents who are trying so hard to understand a school system that is forever changing!!
- The parents who pull out their hair every night trying to get their kids to do homework!!!

I want to help YOU help your CHILD navigate through these uncertain times.

So many tutors out there offer great services preparing children for tests or assessments…which is great for short-term learning and regurgitation of information. I offer tutoring services, with a twist of ‘Maria’ ;-) I want to work with families to ensure their children are set up for ‘lifelong learning’, which will benefit them not only during their school life, but in their personal life and future careers. It’s a wholistic approach to learning, which is backed by many years of developmental psychology research. My goal is to in-still a ‘LOVE OF LEARNING’ in your children’s lives…so they never stop wanting to move forward!

I start with a baseline assessment of where your child is at (I work with children from 0-16), then from there I create an individualised program for your child. Using this program, I work alongside your child for a specified amount of time (based on the needs of the child) teaching them not only school content, but how they can get the most out of their education (with their learning style). Now this is the ‘twist’….During the time I will be working with your child, I will be providing you, the parents, information and strategies on how YOU can help your child at home.
