You can only choose ONE… and I actually think this one is hard 👀

👩‍🏫 Classroom 1 — Full-time TA + unlimited classroom resources
🖨️ Classroom 2 — Your own printer & laminator + smaller class sizes
📅 Classroom 3 — A full planning day every fortnight + NO playground duties
🏫 Classroom 4 — A huge classroom + minimal admin and unnecessary paperwork

For me, it’s Classroom 2 without hesitation 😂 Small class sizes trump ALL. Give me fewer kids and I’ll happily walk to the communal printer 😂

And judging by the results from my recent teacher survey… I’m definitely not alone 👀 37.5% of teachers said smaller class sizes would make the biggest difference to their workload, making it the most popular response.

So now I want to know…

Department of Ed… curriculum decision makers… I just have a tiny suggestion 🤏🏼😂

Teachers are already trying to fit approximately 847 things into one school day and somehow we’re meant to squeeze everything in AND do it well?!

Maybe, just maybe… we could listen to the people actually standing in classrooms every day 👀

Teaching is such a huge part of who I am… but it isn’t all of who I am. 💗

I recently had the opportunity to speak on a panel about the reality of teaching — not the Pinterest-perfect classroom, not the perfectly planned week, but the actual reality of it.

One of the biggest things I’ve learnt? You are a human first and a teacher second.

You won’t get everything done.
You’ll have weeks where you feel behind.
You’ll need your teacher besties more than you realise.
And sometimes the best thing you can do is stop, go home and pick it back up tomorrow.

Oh… and I will forever stand by using classroom walls for LEARNING over making every inch perfectly aesthetic 😂🤭

There was SO much more I could have said, so maybe this needs a Part 2…
