✍🏽Are you worried your child doesn't like to draw or write?
😩Should you be worried if they are starting Prep next year?
😔Firstly, you are not alone. In the last ten years, there has been a huge decrease in students fine motor skills and sadly, today's lifestyle doesn’t incorporate as many finger strengthening exercises as it should.
😪How can you help?
🤘🏻Try to get your child's fingers M O V I N G as much as possible with activities like:
👉🏻Play dough
👉🏻Lego
👉🏻Threading
👉🏻Sewing
👉🏻Painting
👉🏻Cutting
👉🏻Drawing (chalk, crayons, pencils, textas)
👉🏻Drawing on vertical surfaces (while they are standing up)
👉🏻Colouring in
👉🏻Monkey bars
👉🏻Dressing themselves or their dolls- doing up buttons, zippers
👉🏻Using keys to unlock or lock
👉🏻Using pegs to hang out washing
👉🏻Using tweezers to sort objects
We work on these skills every week in our school readiness classes so feel free to message me to arrange a free chat about how we can help your child get ready for school next year.
