🌱 From Seed to Salad! 🥬
There was so much excitement as our little gardeners harvested the lettuce they grew from tiny seeds! Throughout the growing process, the children took great pride in caring for their plants by watering them, checking on their progress each day, and making sure they had plenty of sunshine to help them grow.
This hands-on experience taught the children about patience, responsibility, and where our food comes from. They watched in amazement as their tiny seeds transformed into fresh, leafy lettuce, and were so proud to harvest something they had nurtured themselves.
What a wonderful way to connect with nature, build confidence, and encourage healthy eating- all through play and discovery! 🌿💚

The research is clear 📚 reading aloud is one of the most powerful things we can do for our children.
When we read with a child, we’re doing far more than sharing a story. We’re building the foundations for language, confidence, curiosity and a lifelong love of learning.
Decades of research shows that children who are read to regularly:
💛 Build stronger language skills
Hearing rich varied language in books exposes children to far more words than everyday conversation alone. This growing vocabulary helps them understand, communicate and make sense of the world.
💛 Develop early literacy skills long before they learn to read
Through stories, children learn how books work – that print carries meaning, that pages turn left to right, and that stories have a beginning, middle and end. These early understandings make learning to read feel familiar and exciting.
💛 Strengthen phonological awareness
Rhymes, rhythms and playful sounds help children hear the building blocks of language.
💛 Grow their comprehension and thinking skills
Talking together about a story, predicting what might happen, wondering how a character feels, and connecting events to real life helps children develop memory, problem-solving, and higher-order thinking.
💛 Experience connection, comfort and joy
Shared reading fosters calmness, closeness, and moments of joint attention. These warm interactions support a child's sense of security and belonging.
Most importantly, children who experience positive, engaging reading moments from a young age are more likely to develop a genuine love of books - something that matters even more than early literacy skills alone.
Reading is simple, joyful, and sets children up for success in school and life.

Little feet (and little wheels) exploring Country. 🌿
Today our babies enjoyed a gentle Walk on Country, taking in the sights, sounds and beauty of the land around us. From the comfort of their prams, they experienced the rustling leaves, birdsong, fresh air and sunshine-building an early connection with the natural world.
We recognise that every child, no matter how young, can begin to develop a sense of belonging, respect and appreciation for Country. These quiet moments outdoors help nurture curiosity, wellbeing and a lifelong love of nature.
We are grateful to learn, play and grow on the lands of the Traditional Custodians, and we acknowledge the deep and enduring connection Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have with Country- past, present and future. 🖤💛❤️

As we continue growing and embedding our loose parts journey, we’re seeing creativity, collaboration, problem-solving and curiosity flourish in ways that only open-ended play can inspire. Every collection of loose parts becomes an invitation for children to create, explore, take risks and lead their own learning.
A huge thank you to Bunnings Warehouse Oxenford Superstore for their generous donation. Your support helps us continue creating rich, meaningful play environments where children’s ideas can shine. We are so grateful for your kindness and for being part of our journey.
Here’s to more creativity, more discovery, and more authentic play every day. 💚🛠️🌿
