Meet Steve Hamilton – Director, Educator and Storyteller

At the heart of Tiddalik Services is a simple belief: every young person deserves the opportunity to succeed, both in the classroom and beyond it.

As an educator with more than two decades of experience, Steve has seen firsthand the transformative power of literacy. He understands that strong reading and writing skills open doors, build confidence, and create opportunities that last a lifetime.

At the same time, Steve has always been passionate about sport and movement, and the positive impact they have on young people's lives. From developing teamwork and resilience to fostering discipline and wellbeing, sport provides lessons that extend far beyond the playing field.

Tiddalik Services was founded on the idea that these two worlds—literacy and sport—can work together to engage, inspire, and empower students. By connecting young people with the stories of athletes, role models, and community leaders, Steve's vision is to make reading meaningful, relevant, and exciting for learners of all backgrounds.

This vision is now being brought to life through a range of literacy initiatives, including the upcoming NRL Set of Six book series, which celebrates perseverance, culture, identity, and achievement through the real-life journeys of elite athletes. Steve has co-authored this series with Rob Wehl.

For Steve, the goal has always been bigger than books. It is about helping young people discover their potential, develop a lifelong love of learning, and understand that success can be achieved in many different ways.

"When students can see themselves in a story, they begin to believe in their own."

There’s something powerful about seeing young people connect with stories that feel real to them.

At Tiddalik Services, that’s the heart behind our partnership with the NRL and the development of this new “Set of Six” literacy series. These books are designed to do more than support reading — they’re about participation, inclusion, diversity, aspiration, and helping students see themselves reflected in learning.

Through strong partnerships, shared values, and community connection, we’re creating resources that bring rugby league, culture, and education together in a meaningful way for schools across Australia and the Pacific.

We’re incredibly proud of where this journey is heading.
