Donโt forget to send your little ones in PJs tomorrow!
National Pyjama Day is all about wearing your favourite pajamas to work or school (and everywhere in-between!) to help raise funds and awareness for children in foster care.
This year, National Pyjama Day falls on Friday 22nd of July 2022 but we will be getting into our PJs on both Tuesday the 19th of July and Friday the 22nd of July.
Kids in care often bounce from home to home and to different schools which adversely affects their ability to learn and thrive. Without support, poor educational outcomes can lead to disengagement in school, mental health issues, unemployment in the future and poor life choices. The aim of the day is to raise as much funds as possible for The Pyjama Foundation's Love of Learning Program which is offered to children in foster care.
To donate to this cause, please follow the prompts on; https://fundraise.thepyjamafoundation.com/fundraisers/barringtonstreet or bring a gold coin donation along with your child/ren on Tuesday or Friday next week (dressed in their PJs of course!)

Today we were all so excited to go on our first excursion to the Gloucester Library for Simultaneous Story Time.
After getting ready, and dressed in our Barrington Street shirts, we lined up. The children were given buddies to hold hands with, giving the older children a sense of responsibility as we walked together to the Library. Before heading into the Library we enjoyed a little drink and bickie break at the outdoor tables. As we headed into the Library the children reminded each other that we needed to be quiet. We then sat on a big mat admiring all the wonderful books that surrounded us. The children chose a few new stories from the shelves for Casse to read and also looked through some books by themselves.
Each year a special book is chosen and is read all around the country at different schools, libraryโs and preschools at exactly the same time. At 11am, the librarian, Maddie began reading the story chosen for this year โThe Family Treeโ.
After the story was completed it was time to return to the centre.
