🔬🧪 This week was National Science Week! 🧬🌏

This year’s theme, “Seeds of Science: Nurturing Science for All,” celebrates the importance of making science accessible, engaging and inspiring for everyone.

Here’s a snapshot of some of the exciting learning happening in our Science classrooms:
Year 7 have been investigating classification and creating dichotomous keys using samples of invertebrate animals and magnifying glasses.
Year 8 have been exploring the different types of heat transfer — conduction, convection and radiation.
Year 9 have been getting hands-on with robotics, investigating flame colours and how they relate to excited electrons, as well as exploring the biodegradability of bin liners. (Not all at the same time! 😉)
Year 10 have been investigating Newton’s Laws of Motion and applying their understanding to the world around them.
Year 11 Investigating Science students have been exploring the Law of Conservation of Energy in both Physics and Biology.
Year 12 Chemistry students have been studying esterification, creating artificial fragrances and flavours including pineapple, Deep Heat, blueberry and even hay!
And our lucky MC class have been investigating changes of state and heat transfer by making ice cream in a bag — using ice and salt to cool the mixture below its freezing point!
