About Us
Montrose Bay High School is a co-educational, comprehensive high school catering for students in Grades 7 - 10. It had its beginnings in a decision made early in 2009 by the School Associati

on and staff of Rosetta and Claremont High Schools to begin an amalgamation process into 2010 to ensure students could have access to improved learning spaces, including a Performing Arts Centre, Language laboratories and Science laboratories.

RECLINK FOOTBALL WRAP-UP 🏉

What a huge day for our Reclink footy teams, with the final round and finals all going down today!

Our girls team fought their way through to the GRAND FINAL — an incredible achievement on its own! Playing with just 5 players due to injuries, they gave it everything and went down fighting by 10 points. Amazing effort from every single one of them. 💪

Our boys team put in a top performance all day, with some of our grade 7 players coming up against much bigger grade 10 boys from other schools. Despite the size difference, they gave it their absolute best and never stopped fighting, finishing the day in a well-earned 3rd position. 🙌

Miss Stacey and Mr Ross are proud of both teams for their resilience and sportsmanship today. Well done 👏

Our Teacher Assistants go above and beyond every day for our students, staff and wider community - Thank you🙏

Young Tassie Scientist from UTas visited Year 9 and 10 students to present as part of our science week celebrations. We had scientists talking about their work and sharing demonstrations on engineering, neuroscience and chemistry. The students got involved and learned lots about research and working as a scientist.

Today around 30 students participated in “Write a book in a day” they started the day at 8am and are now close to the deadline of 8pm. The challenge is to write a 3500 word story in a small group to then be eligible to enter and have your book published. Funds and awareness raised supports cancer research 📚 🧐

Today all Year 10s during their HPE lessons hit the court for wheelchair sports with Richard from ParaQuad! 🏀

Students learnt how to manoeuvre and control a wheelchair, then put those new skills to the test in a few games of wheelchair basketball. They stepped outside their comfort zone, showed awesome teamwork, and there were plenty of smiles and laughs along the way. Great effort from everyone involved!

Final session is next Tuesday, Period 4/5 — we’d love to see those who didn’t get involved today jump in and have a go! 👏

First Nation learners from MBH recently attended a Wave to Plate, Sea County Cultural Camp. Here they made small bark canoes, a large bark shelter and learnt about aspects of Tasmania’s abalone and oyster industries at Barilla Bay Oyster farm. The students tried fresh oysters and learnt about a small business that started with the idea of brewing boutique ginger beer. Starting small, this now has markets locally and nationally.

Lessons on regenerating our giant kelp forests at Eaglehawk Dive centre and an unforgettable boat trip to seal colonies at Cape Raoul with Pennicott Cruises were also highlights.

We are grateful to our ongoing community partnerships, especially Tim, Marni, and Lee from Wave to Plate, for providing our students with authentic and memorable off campus learning activities and insights into opportunities to job pathways in local industries connected to sea country.

Through this connection another opportunity has opened for our learners to participate in a Caring for Country project with the Derwent Catchment Project a community-based organisation caring for Tasmania’s land and waterways.
