πŸ‘πŸ’™ Class of 2032 Boarders Meet for the First Time! πŸ’™πŸ‘

This past weekend, 17 of our 19 boarders for next year’s Year 7 cohort joined us at school for their very first transition camp!

There was plenty of fun and adventure as we navigated the living spaces, learned more about some of the routines and rules of living in a boarding community, and explored Sydney. We ventured to Circular Quay and even found time to take in a showing of Harry Potter on the 25th anniversary of its debut in the movies! πŸͺ„πŸŽ¬

We also celebrated Lincoln’s birthday and enjoyed breakfast with families joining us on Sunday morning, where we shared stories and answered lots of great questions.

Their next adventure will be Orientation Day on November 30, when they will meet all of our current boarders. We look forward to seeing the great connections made this weekend continue, with students finding ways to catch up and call between our events.

We are excited to have our boarding numbers swell when we say goodbye to A***n, Leena and Lucy, and welcome at least 19 new boarders, along with so many others from HAST joining us in Years 8–11.

🏑 We can’t wait to welcome you all to the Hurlstone boarding community! 🌾

🌟 Celebrating Anika’s Outstanding Achievements 🌟

Last night, Anika attended the Rotary Club of Campbelltown Youth Excellence Awards at Wests Leagues Club, supported by her parents, Ms. Ross and Mrs. Davis. Mrs. Castle nominated Anika for her outstanding contribution to the Hurlstone community and far beyond.

Amongst her many achievements, Anika was celebrated for her incredible work in STEM, leadership, community service and advocacy, including highlighting the experiences of women of colour through her podcast, mentoring girls in coding, supporting women in STEM, leading events addressing inequality and climate action, coordinating Racial Elimination Day, and her contributions to Empower, the SRC and STEM Club.

Anika has also made an extraordinary contribution through the Hurlstone Cadets, where she holds the rank of CUO, the highest rank for students, commanding over 500 cadets within 23 Battalion and instructing 245 cadets in Field Operations.

πŸ₯³ We are incredibly proud to share that Anika was the award winner for Community Services and Leadership and was subsequently named Ambassador for Campbelltown Rotary for 2026πŸ†πŸ‘

Anika represented herself, her family and Hurlstone with such grace, poise and humility. Her response on the night was outstanding and meaningful, acknowledging the support of both her parents and her school. Dozens of audience members took the time to congratulate Anika and express their admiration for her achievements.

We are so very proud of Anika and the way she continues to inspire others through her leadership, service and commitment to making a difference. Anika is truly a role model to us all! πŸ’™β€οΈπŸ’›

We wish you all the very best as you take on your Ambassador role over the next 12 months and continue to inspire young Hurlstonians and the Campbelltown community through your leadership and service.

πŸ“Έ A special thank you to Anika’s dad for the awesome photos from the evening and for capturing this wonderful event!

🎨✨ Celebrating Educator Excellence ✨🎨
πŸ’ Congratulations Ms. Ross! πŸ’

Last night at the Rotary Club of Campbelltown Youth Awards, our very own Ms. Ross was presented with her certificate acknowledging her nomination for Teacher of the Year.

Ms. Ross, as both a classroom teacher and Head Teacher CAPA, inspires students and colleagues with her dedication to teaching and learning, and her provision of a wide range of opportunities to develop student talents in the creative domain, both within and beyond the classroom.

Her students HSC results in Visual Arts are outstanding, and she continues to support and lead her faculty with professional guidance that effectively translates into improved student outcomes.

She is much loved by her senior students, as she supports, guides and inspires them to continuously improve in both their art practices and the development of their literacy skills in art history and art appreciation.

We are incredibly proud of all of our staff, but today we honour Ms. Ross and her commitment to our students and our school.

β€οΈπŸ’™πŸ’› Congratulations Ms. Ross, and well done on this wonderful recognition of your dedication and contribution to Hurlstone! We are so proud of you! β€οΈπŸ’™πŸ’›

πŸŒΎπŸ‰ From The Farm To The Football Field! πŸ‰πŸŒΎ

Last night, Hurlstone was delighted to welcome our cousins from Yanco Agricultural High School as they made the journey from Leeton to Sydney for today’s big U15s Football Competition!

🏑 23 students + 3 staff settled into our E Block accommodation for a well earned rest after their travels. After refuelling with dinner in our dining hall, the boys headed out for a light training run on our brand-new oval to prepare for the big games ahead.

Our Hurlstone boarder boys were proud to show their Yanco mates around the dormitory, while our Year 11 boys headed over to cheer them on and support them during their training session. It was fantastic to see our Agricultural High Schools network coming together through friendship, sport and a whole lot of school spirit! 🀝🌾

This morning, our dining hall was looking extra busy as the boys enjoyed breakfast, collected their lunches and headed off for their first game against The Hills Sports High School.

βš½πŸ‘ We wish the Yanco team the very best of luck for their two games today! We know you’ll represent Yanco with talent, determination and sportsmanship and shine a light on the incredible young people across our Agricultural High Schools network.

Go Yanco! Play hard, play fair and enjoy every minute! πŸ’™πŸ’›πŸŒΎ

πŸ“š Literacy and Numeracy Week πŸ“ 29 August - 4 September πŸ”’

This year’s theme, β€œEvery day counts, every word matters,” celebrates the importance of reading, writing and numeracy in our everyday lives.

Literacy and Numeracy Week is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the achievements of our students and recognise the great work happening across our school to develop these important skills through the curriculum.
