A Huge Few Weeks of Sport at SPW!

It’s been an incredible run of sporting success at SPW, with our students showing skill, determination, teamwork and plenty of school spirit!

⚽ Knockout Soccer
Our boys battled through two tightly contested matches against Black Forest and Nazareth Catholic Community, securing two hard-fought 1–0 victories. They’ve now earned a spot in the State Final Four for Years 4–6, with the next stage taking place in September!

🏀 Knockout Basketball
Both our boys and girls teams impressed at the State Basketball Centre. The boys finished 1st in their pool, while the girls finished 2nd. Both teams went on to win their crossover finals and have advanced to the State Finals in October!

🏃 District Athletics Carnival
For the third year running, SPW has claimed the South West District Athletics Carnival!

A huge congratulations to every student who competed, whether they won a medal, smashed a PB, tried something new or stepped up to support the team. This was a true team effort!

A huge congratulations to Year 5 student Emmii, who competed at the State Taekwondo Championships and took home GOLD!

What an incredible achievement! Emmii’s hard work, dedication and determination have paid off, and we’re thrilled to share that she will now be heading to Canberra to compete at the National Taekwondo Championships! 🇦🇺🥋

Celebrating Excellence in Education

We were incredibly proud to see our Principal, Sarah Noell, attend the 2026 Educator Australian Education Awards, where St Peter’s Woodlands was named an Excellence Awardee for Primary School of the Year – Non-Government.

This national recognition acknowledges the wonderful work happening across our school and the commitment of our staff, students and families to providing an outstanding education and experience for every child.

It was also a privilege to celebrate alongside the other Excellence Awardees and category winners from across Australia. Congratulations to all schools and educators recognised for their contribution, innovation and excellence in education.

We are proud to represent St Peter’s Woodlands on the national stage and grateful to be part of a community so committed to helping every child thrive.

Last Tuesday, we were privileged to welcome our friend and wellbeing expert, Madhavi Nawana Parker from Positive Minds Australia, to host our first Guest Speaker Night in the Dr Pamela Wall Centre.

Madhavi shared wonderful insights from her latest book, The Friendship Blueprint, exploring friendship, wellbeing and social skills, and the important role we can all play in supporting children and young people to navigate these challenges.

We were thrilled to welcome parents and educators from our community as well as from other schools for an evening of learning and connection.

It’s been a week since we farewelled our friends from Osaka Kori Nevers School after a memorable week of cultural exchange at St Peter’s Woodlands.

Throughout the week, students shared in a range of experiences, including themed literacy and numeracy, art, cooking, STEM, Japanese lessons, sport, Chapel, performing arts and an excursion to Cleland Wildlife Park. These experiences not only immersed our visitors in Australian school life but also gave our own students the opportunity to learn about Japanese culture, celebrate our similarities and differences, and build lasting friendships.

The exchange concluded with a heartfelt farewell assembly, where our visitors delighted us with a special performance, in which our students spontaneously joined in singing 'Take Me Home, Country Roads' - a fitting end to a week filled with connection, learning and unforgettable memories. We look forward to welcoming them again in the future!

This week was International Friendship Day, but at St Peter's Woodlands we celebrate friendship every day.

Friendship is more than making bracelets or sitting together at lunch. It's about showing kindness, including others, listening with empathy, working together and helping those around us to feel valued and respected. Yes! These activities are a lot of fun but it's the little moments from these activities that we cherish and encourage.

Every day, we see students welcoming a new classmate, encouraging a friend who is finding something difficult, solving problems together and celebrating each other's successes. These everyday moments of kindness help create the strong sense of belonging that makes our school community so special.

This week we celebrated friendship—and every day, we are grateful for the caring relationships that help our students learn together, care for others and make a positive difference in the world.

Thank you to our Kindness Leaders who supported many students around the school to make their friendship bracelet to pass on to a friend.
