Big news! 🌿 The R&A report -GC2020: Biodiversity Benefits of Golf in Australia & New Zealand - is officially live! 🎉

I co-wrote this report with Kate Torgersen from Environmental Golf Solutions, and we thank The R&A for the opportunity to lead this project. A massive thank you to all the Clubs who shared their stories and insights with us! 🙌

Do you want practical, real-world ways to boost biodiversity and sustainability at your Club? We’re hitting the road for the Sustainable Golf National Roadshow (in partnership with The R&A, Australian Sports Turf Managers Association and Golf Management Australia) to share key report findings and actionable biodiversity activities.

Other speakers include:
- Dr. Brett Morris from The R&A on sustainable agronomy:
- Ben Gibson & Mathew Soles, CSTM from The Toolbox Team on Compliance & EHS
- Jacob Thomsen running the Game Changer Sustainability Workshop.

See the www.greengeckostudios.com.au/instagram for a copy of the report, or to book for the roadshow.

Happy Owl International Day! 🦉✨

Owls can eat hundreds of rodents a year, making them vital predators in our ecosystem.

When controlling rodents in your garden, ditch toxic poisons! Check labels and avoid brodifacoum, bromadiolone, or difethialone. (Second-Generation Anticoagulant Rodenticides cause secondary poisoning in many predatory animals and the temporary ban helps protect them.)

How to help:
- use mechanical snap traps or rodent-proof your home/property.
- install owl nest boxes to invite natural pest control to your area.

On our recent trip to Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park in Livingstone, Zambia, we had the privilege of meeting the rangers who live with endangered rhinos 24/7 - moving with them wherever they roam. 🦏

It’s heartbreaking that such constant, round-the-clock protection is required in today’s world, but walking through the park with them was inspiring. Their commitment to safeguarding these animals - day in and day out - is nothing short of heroic.

This World Ranger Day, I’m thinking of the dedicated guardians in Mosi-oa-Tunya and every ranger across the globe putting their lives on the line for wildlife.

Today is World Nature Conservation Day! 🌿

Today is about taking action for nature near us.

In urban areas, small birds are losing the dense cover they need to thrive. Without a healthy middle storey of shrubs, smaller birds like this Yellow Thornbill get chased by larger, dominant species like Noisy Miners.

One way you can protect small birds from Noisy Miners is to plant dense, spiky, understorey vegetation. Miners hate flying through thick, tangled bushes, whereas tiny birds navigate them easily.

It’s a very exciting ! ☀️🦋

Today, from and I visited the Biodiversity Nursery to pick up some very special plants. 🌿

Some of these plants will form part of a grassland habitat we are creating specifically for the endangered Cryptic Sun-moth. Huge thanks to the Council team for all their help - they also gave us a rare Narrow-leaf ray flower!

We can't wait to start planting and to continue working closely with the Council to establish habitat for the Cryptic Sun Moth and other local insects. Stay tuned for updates!

It was an honour to join The R&A Golf and Nature international webcast recently! 🌍⛳

Golf course staff manage vast landscapes globally - we are the custodians of green spaces that create vital habitat networks for thousands of species. 🌿

I had the pleasure of speaking about the reintroduction of the regionally extinct Olive Perchletat Glenelg Golf Club, in partnership with Nature Glenelg Trust and Green Adelaide 🐟✨

A huge thank you to The R&A sustainability team for the opportunity, and to David Garrido from Sky Sports for his brilliant hosting.

Also, a special shout-out to Russell Marrett for his camera work - we had a great time filming this piece! 🎥🙌

(My piece starts around the 4-minute mark).
