BREAKING NEWS FROM THE YEAR 2 CLASSROOM!

That's it... the Year 2 chairs have had enough!

After days of being sat on because the students had to stay inside because of all this rainy weather, they've officially gone on strike!

Their message was clear:

"We're tired! We need a break! We refuse to work until the Year 2 students convince us to come back!"

The only way to get the chairs back?

The Year 2 students are going to have to produce some very persuasive writing this morning. They'll need to convince the chairs that they're appreciated, will be treated kindly, and that classroom life really isn't so bad after all!

Good luck, Year 2... your seats are depending on you!

Can you help our school?

We're looking for donations of prizes for our upcoming Fundraising Bingo Night!

If you're a local business, family, or community member who can donate a voucher, gift, hamper, or prize, we'd be incredibly grateful. Every donation, big or small, helps us raise funds to support the students at St Leonards Primary School.

And what do you get in return? That warm, fuzzy feeling that comes from supporting your local community government school.

If you'd like to donate a prize, please contact Heather at [email protected].

Thank you for helping make our Bingo Night a fantastic success!

At St Leonards Primary School, everyone belongs.

In preparation for National Reconciliation Week, our Nunga Club, together with Chloe, our Aboriginal Childhood Education Officer, created a beautiful flag that reflects pride, culture, and connection.

Throughout this week, students participated in classroom learning activities exploring Australia's shared histories, cultures, and achievements. They also enjoyed making and sampling traditional damper in small groups.

We finished the week with a special assembly before proudly parading the flag around the oval as a whole school community.

Today our classes had the opportunity to take part in National Simultaneous Storytime 2026!

Students gathered together in the hall at 11:30am to enjoy this year’s story, Luna Roo: The Kangaroo Baller by Adam Wallace and Adrian Beck, illustrated by James Hart. The story shared important messages about teamwork, resilience and believing in yourself.

It was wonderful to see our students enjoying reading together as part of this nationwide event celebrating the joy of books and storytelling.

A huge congratulations to Matilda who recently participated in SAPSASA Golf!

Matilda had a fantastic day out on the course, with the sun shining brightly and perfect conditions for golf. She played extremely well across all 9 holes and represented our school beautifully. Most importantly, Matilda thoroughly enjoyed the experience and should be very proud of her efforts.

Well done, Matilda! We can’t wait to hear about your next golfing adventure.

Happy National Volunteers Week

This week we would like to recognise and thank the incredible volunteers who help make our school such a wonderful place to learn, grow and belong.

Our volunteers give their time in so many different ways. They read with students, help maintain and improve our gardens, assist on camps and excursions, sew library bags, volunteer in the canteen, run our Governing Council along with several other committees, coach sports teams, cook snags at events, organise Mother’s and Father’s Day stalls and work tirelessly to raise money for school improvements and opportunities for our students.

They also help bring our community together by organising social events for families and parents, including events such as Bogan Bingo (tickets available now) and our upcoming school disco next week. These events help create connections, friendships and a strong sense of community within our school.

We are also incredibly proud of our student volunteers, who generously give their time before and after school, help on the crossing, assist during recess and lunchtime in the canteen and library, and run lunchtime clubs and Smart Play activities for their peers. Their leadership, kindness and willingness to help others play an important role in making our school a fun, welcoming and supportive place for everyone.

As a school community, we simply could not do what we do without our volunteers. They help create opportunities for students, support staff and families and make our school a warmer, stronger and better place for everyone.

We are proud to have over 130 registered volunteers in our school community. All of our registered volunteers complete training to ensure they have the knowledge, training and support needed to confidently and safely undertake their roles within our school.

If you are interested in becoming a registered volunteer, please email [email protected] for more information.

Finally, we would like to invite all registered volunteers to join us for a thank you afternoon tea on Friday at 2pm. RSVPs are required to Heather.

Thank you to each and every volunteer for the time, energy and heart you give to our school. Your contribution is truly valued and appreciated.
