📚✨ Book Week – Days One & Two ✨📚

What a wonderful start to Book Week across all our rooms!

Over the past two days, the children have enjoyed exploring their favourite books, listening to stories, singing songs, getting creative and using their imaginations through play.

We’ve loved seeing the excitement as children and educators came together to celebrate the magic of books and storytelling!

We can’t wait to see what the rest of Book Week brings! 💛📚

📚🎶 BOOK WEEK 2026 — SYMPHONY OF STORIES! 🎶📚

We’re excited to celebrate Book Week from Monday 24th – Friday 28th August, here at the centre!

This year’s theme, “Symphony of Stories,” celebrates the wonderful voices, characters and stories that come together to create something magical.

Throughout the week, we’ll be bringing stories to life through music, movement, creativity, storytelling and play across all our rooms.

Children are welcome to come dressed as their favourite book character on any day throughout the week, even educators too!

We can’t wait to see our centre filled with wonderful characters and a love of books and reading! ❤️📖

🔬✨ SCIENCE WEEK AT OUR CENTRE! ✨🔬

What an incredible week of exploring, experimenting and discovering across all of our rooms! Our educators created a range of hands-on science experiences that encouraged children of all ages to be curious, make predictions, investigate and discover how things work.

🌋 Volcano Eruptions – Exploring the exciting reaction between vinegar and bicarbonate of soda.

🥤 Mentos & Coke – Watching a spectacular fizzy reaction unfold.

🏊 Sink or Swim – Making predictions and testing which objects would sink or float.

🥛 Milk & Dish Soap – Exploring colourful reactions as the colours moved and swirled through the milk.

🌈 Colour Mixing – Experimenting with colours and discovering what new colours we could create.

💧 Oil & Water Lava Lamps – Combining oil, water, food colouring, vinegar and bicarbonate of soda to create bubbling, colourful lava lamp reactions!

🍊🧁 Cooking Experiences – Our children also explored science through cooking, helping to create fresh orange juice and delicious muffins! They explored ingredients, measurements, mixing and how ingredients change as they are combined and cooked.

🫧 Bouncing Bubbles & Walking Water – Exploring how bubbles behave and watching coloured water travel through paper towel.

Across the centre, our children have been busy asking questions, making predictions, observing changes and learning through hands-on experimentation.

Science Week has been a wonderful reminder that science is everywhere — and sometimes the best learning happens when we simply ask, “I wonder what will happen?” 🔍🧪✨

🌿 Welcome to Toddler One! 🧸✨

Welcome to Toddler One at Goodstart Glendale, where our 18-month to 2-year-old children are supported to explore, discover, learn and grow in a warm, nurturing and engaging environment.

Our room provides a variety of open-ended learning experiences, imaginative play opportunities, sensory experiences, creative exploration and spaces for children to develop their independence and confidence at their own pace.

Our Toddler One team is supported by a qualified ECT Teacher and a qualified Certificate III Educator, who work together to build strong, responsive relationships with each child and create meaningful learning opportunities based on their individual interests, strengths and developing skills.

We value learning through play, connection and exploration, supporting our toddlers as they develop their communication, social skills, physical abilities, independence and curiosity.

🎓📚 Building Confident Learners Through Our School Readiness Program

In Preschool Two, our children have been enthusiastically engaging in a range of learning experiences that support their transition to school as part of Goodstart’s School Readiness Program.

Each day, the children are developing important early literacy and numeracy skills through fun, play-based learning. Some of our current learning focuses include:

🔤 Exploring letters of the alphabet and the sounds they make (phonics)
✏️ Practising writing and recognising their names
📖 Building letter recognition and phonological awareness
🔢 Developing number recognition through games, group experiences and hands-on activities

These intentional learning experiences help children build confidence, independence and the foundational skills they will use as they move into kindergarten and beyond. Most importantly, our educators create opportunities for every child to learn at their own pace, encouraging curiosity, resilience and a genuine love of learning.

🌟 A huge shoutout to our amazing Educator, Montanna, for the incredible work she is doing incorporating Jolly Phonics into the children’s daily learning. Through engaging songs, actions, stories and interactive experiences, Montanna is making phonics fun, meaningful and memorable, helping children develop strong early literacy skills while building their confidence and enthusiasm for learning. Thank you for your passion, creativity and dedication to giving our children the very best start. 💛

We are so proud of the enthusiasm and progress our Preschool Two children are showing each day as they continue to grow into confident, capable learners. 💛🌟

What a wonderful week we’ve had at Goodstart Glendale celebrating Pyjama Week! 💤✨

From Monday 27th July to Friday 31st July, our centre was filled with cosy pyjamas, smiling faces, and plenty of fun learning experiences.

Pyjama Week provided so many opportunities for creativity, imagination, wellbeing, and connection as children and educators came together to embrace all things cosy!

A big thank you to our families and educators for supporting the week and helping make it such a memorable experience for the children. We loved seeing everyone’s fantastic pyjamas and sharing in the excitement together! 💙

🌙✨ Pyjama Week is Coming to Goodstart Glendale ✨🌙

Next Monday 27th - Friday 31st of July, our children and educators are invited to come to the centre in their favourite pyjamas each day as we come together to support and raise awareness for foster care.

Throughout the week, the children will participate in a variety of engaging experiences and activities that promote kindness, belonging, and the importance of caring for others within our community. 💛

To finish off a wonderful week of fun, we will be celebrating with a special Pizza Day on Friday! 🍕🎉

We can’t wait to see everyone’s cosy pyjamas and share in a week filled with learning, laughter, and meaningful conversations.

At Goodstart Glendale, group times are an important part of each day and provide children of all ages with opportunities to connect, learn and grow together.

Whether we are reading stories, engaging in meaningful room discussions, exploring letter sounds, or enjoying musical experiences, group time helps to foster a sense of belonging and builds confidence in our little learners.

Through these experiences, children develop:
🗣️ Language and communication skills
📖 Early literacy skills, including letter and sound recognition
👂 Listening and concentration skills
🤝 Social skills such as turn-taking and sharing ideas ⭐ Confidence when participating in a group setting
🎵 Creativity and self-expression through music and movement

Group time looks different across each age group, ensuring experiences are developmentally appropriate and engaging for every child. It is wonderful to see our children actively participating, sharing their thoughts, singing along, and developing a lifelong love of learning.
