We are proud to share this project from National Reconciliation Week. Thank you, Kristin, for sharing it with us.
"In the lead up to Reconciliation Week 2026, Doreen von Linde, Coordinator of the Barossa Bushgardens, invited Ngadjuri artist Mel Agius and Barossa mosaic artist Kristin Wohlers to run three workshops where children and adults responded to First
Nation stories. The yarn was supported by Aunty Vanessa.
Kristin says: ‘For me as a mosaic artist, these events with Ngadjuri artist Mel Agius gave me the opportunity to learn more about the culture of the local People whose land I live on. The experience was very moving and enabled me to be the facilitator for the participants to express their understanding of the yarns in mosaics’.
At the Nuriootpa Community Children’s Centre and at the Nuriootpa Primary School children made their own designs in response to Mel’s stories about the Ngadjuri Pepper Mint Box Tree and other yarns. Many of the children incorporated the Aboriginal flag in their designs."
The materials used were Cinca and Oxides to colour the cement.

Sharing some beautiful mosaics created by Jane Denison. I was fortunate enough to spend 4 days in her studio and was able to see her work in real life.
This is a beautiful example of a spiral created as part of the Art of Andamento level 2 course.
Smalti used are Mexican Smalti in stunning ocean colours and Eco Smalti from Italy.
