🇦🇺 Flag Raising Ceremony at Aussie Kindies Glen Innes 🖤💛❤️

Today was a very special day for our Aussie Kindies Glen Innes community as we came together for our Flag Raising Ceremony, proudly raising the Aboriginal Flag, Australian National Flag and Torres Strait Islander Flag.

A heartfelt thank you to Glen Innes Severn Mayor Cr. Margot Davis - Mayor, Glen Innes Severn Council for taking the time to join us and be part of this meaningful occasion. We truly appreciated having you visit our service and share this special moment with our children, educators and community. 💐

We would also like to extend a very special thank you to our Regional Manager, Christy Sinclair, who travelled all the way from Coffs Harbour to join us for this important event. We are incredibly grateful that you made the trip to celebrate this milestone with us. ❤️

A big thank you to Barnaby Joyce MP Barnaby Joyce for sending us the three flags. We truly appreciate your support and contribution in helping us bring this meaningful project to life. 🇦🇺

It was a wonderful opportunity for our children to come together, learn about respect, belonging and the importance of acknowledging and celebrating the diverse cultures and histories that make up our community.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day 🌈🐍

This morning, our children arrived to a wonderful surprise as they were greeted by a beautiful Rainbow Serpent artwork created by Miss Thai. The children were full of excitement and curiosity as they followed the colourful design leading into the centre.

The Rainbow Serpent holds great cultural significance for many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and this special artwork provided an opportunity for our children to engage with and celebrate Indigenous culture and storytelling.

A huge thank you to Miss Thai and our amazing educators for creating such a meaningful and welcoming experience for the children as we celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day. ❤️💛🖤💙💚🤍

🌿💛 NAIDOC Week Cooking Experience 💛🌿
Last Friday, our Senior and Preschool children had the wonderful opportunity to participate in a special NAIDOC Week cooking experience with a very special guest — India, Daisy’s mum.
The children were invited to make Johnny Cakes (fried scones), with those who chose to join in enjoying the process of mixing ingredients, flattening dough, and creating their own Johnny Cakes from scratch.
There was lots of excitement at lunchtime as the children tasted the Johnny Cakes they had helped make. It was a fantastic hands-on learning experience that encouraged participation, collaboration, and an appreciation of culture through food.
A big thank you to India for sharing her time and knowledge with us and helping make our NAIDOC Week celebrations so meaningful. We are grateful for opportunities like these that strengthen our connections with families and deepen children's understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures.

Although Tayla has been part of the Aussie Kindies Glen Innes family for the past five months, she has already become an invaluable member of our team. Today we celebrated a very special milestone for our wonderful Nursery Room Leader, Miss Frankie, as we showered her with love before she begins her maternity leave next week. 💕👶

We would like to thank Miss Frankie for her dedication, care and the beautiful relationships she has built with our children and families. We wish her all the very best as she prepares to welcome her little one into the world. We can’t wait to meet the newest member of her family! 🌸

While Miss Frankie is away, our Nursery will be in very capable hands. Miss Jess will be stepping into the Room Leader role and will be supported by Miss Madison and Ms Monica. Together, they will continue to provide the nurturing, high-quality care and learning experiences that our Nursery families know and trust.

Please join us in wishing Miss Frankie all the best for this exciting new chapter. We look forward to welcoming her back after her maternity leave! 💗

🦘⚽ Tomorrow, we're joining millions of Australians for National Simultaneous Storytime!

At 12pm AEST on Wednesday 27 May, children across the country will come together to read Luna Roo: the Kangaroo Baller at the very same moment. That's over 2.2 million readers, all sharing one story, all at once.

Written by Adam Jackson and Adrian Lloyd and illustrated by Jake Minton, Luna Roo is a story about chasing your dreams, backing yourself, and pushing through when things get tough, exactly the kind of message we love sharing with our little ones every day.

Because when children fall in love with stories, something magical happens. They build vocabulary, spark imagination, and develop the foundations they'll carry into school and beyond.
