What a beautiful way to wrap up our Science Week!
This afternoon, we opened our doors and invited our families to come in and explore with us. The afternoon was full of little moments, children proudly showing their families what they had been learning, parents joining in with the experiments, lots of “wow!” moments, and plenty of smiles. We had a lots of bubbles and colours to light, microscopes and hands-on experiments, there was so much to discover together. Thank you to all our families who came along and spent the afternoon with us. Having you here made it feel extra special, and it was such a lovely way to finish the week together.

Our little ones have recently shown so much interest in cars, birds, animals and the world around them, so today we took their learning out into our local community!
During our excursion, our children had opportunities to observe different cars travelling along the road, listen for birds, notice animals and explore the familiar surroundings near where they live and learn. Excursions like this help children connect their classroom interests with real-life experiences. They support curiosity, language development, observation skills and an understanding of their local community all while giving children the opportunity to slow down, look closely and discover something new. We love following the children’s interests and seeing where their curiosity takes us next!

Our new outdoor Calm & Shadow Play space invites children to slow down, wonder, and explore through light, shadows and imagination. Using torches, natural materials, animal figures and shadow cards, children are encouraged to create stories, investigate shapes, experiment with light, and express their creativity in a peaceful environment.
This cosy outdoor space offers a different way to learn, where curiosity leads the play and every shadow tells a story.
We can’t wait to see where the children’s imaginations take them!

Our staff meetings are always a chance to come together, reflect, learn and support one another. This month, we decided to slow things down and make wellbeing our priority.

Everyone came in their favourite PJs, brought a cosy blanket, enjoyed a fresh salad bar, sipped on warm citrus tea, put on a face mask, read an appreciation note, and took some time to simply relax.

In the middle of our busy routines, it’s important to pause, recharge and look after ourselves too. A happy, healthy team creates the best environment for our children, and we’re so grateful to share these moments together.

Here’s to making wellbeing part of what we do, not just something we talk about.

Today we celebrated our 2nd birthday! A huge thank you to all of our amazing families, children, and educators who joined us for our Pancake Morning Tea to celebrate this special milestone. Thank you for making this celebration so special. Here’s to many more years of learning, laughter and growing together!

At Little Assets Forest Hill, we see our outdoor space as an extension of our classroom. It’s a place where children can explore, create, imagine, take safe risks and connect with nature. Whether they’re climbing, building, digging or simply observing the world around them, every moment outdoors is an opportunity to learn, grow and belong.

This week, our children have been exploring NAIDOC Week in ways that are meaningful for them through stories, nature play, weaving, symbols, animals, and time together on Country. With this year’s theme, ‘50 Years of Deadly’ we are celebrating the strength, stories and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and continuing to build respect and connection through everyday learning. Our children were curious, careful and creative as they explored natural materials, made their own little creations, listened to stories, and shared ideas with their educators and friends.

STEM play with cups, bricks and cardboard happening today! Our children started with a few cups… and then the ideas just kept getting bigger. They stacked, balanced, knocked things down, fixed them, added bricks, moved pieces around and tried again. Lots of thinking, teamwork and very serious building faces.

What a lovely night the our team learning reflecting and sharing ideas together! During our staff meeting, our team reflected on the value of outdoor learning and the important role educators play in creating meaningful, safe and engaging outdoor environments. Together, we discussed how children develop confidence, curiosity, problem-solving skills, resilience, social connections and respect for nature through outdoor play. It was also a great opportunity for our team to connect, share ideas and enjoy some time together. Thank you to all our educators for your contribution, reflection and commitment to continuous improvement.
