War doesnโt just destroy cities, it threatens knowledge, research, and the voices that shape our understanding of the world.
As the war in Ukraine continues to disrupt lives and institutions, visiting fellowships for Ukrainian academics are vital. They enable scholars to continue their work, share critical perspectives, and keep knowledge alive despite uncertainty.
Ostap Salovskyi , a visiting academic through the SITADhub Visiting Fellowship program for Ukrainians at UTS: University of Technology Sydney, is one example. Through this fellowship, he has been able to continue his research and contribute meaningfully to the academic community while Ukraine faces ongoing challenges due to war.
Supporting scholars like Ostap means protecting knowledge, voices, and the future of education.
Thank you to all involved ๐๐๐ป the School of Communication at UTS Faculty of Design and Society (where SITADHub - Social Impact Technologies and Democracy Research Hub is housed) and the programโs main funder, the Ukrainian Studies Foundation in Australia.

It was a pleasure hosting Ostap Salovskyi at the SITADHub -Social Impact Technologies and Democracy Research Hub at UTS: University of Technology Sydney for his talk, โBusiness Under Fire: How a Ukrainian Retailer Managed the First 100 Days of War.โ
Focusing on the case of Fozzy Group in ๐บ๐ฆ Ukraine, the session offered a powerful look into what it takes for a business to continue operating in the midst of extreme disruption. From supply chain breakdowns to workforce challenges, the discussion highlighted how quickly conditions can change, and how organisations are forced to adapt in real time.
What stood out most was the emphasis on practical resilience: making fast decisions, adjusting constantly, and leading without a clear roadmap. It was a timely reminder of how businesses respond when the usual rules no longer apply.
Thank you ๐ to everyone who joined us, and especially to Dr Salovskyi for sharing such valuable insights. We also gratefully acknowledge the Ukrainian Studies Foundation for sponsoring the visiting fellowship that made this engagement possible.

The Ukrainian Book Shelf has opened at the State Library of New South Wales.
This curated collection of Ukrainian literature offers a unique window into Ukraineโs rich heritage, culture and community.
The project is an initiative of the First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska, the Embassy of Ukraine in Australia and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
The launch event, led by Ambassador Vasyl Myroshnychenko, was attended by representatives from federal, state and local government, along with Ukrainian community leaders, scholars and artists.
It was an incredibly moving event, and we are thrilled that our director Associate Professor Olga Oleinikova has contributed her book about Ukrainian migration to Australia to this collection. All the titles will be available on request in the library reading rooms, and accessible to readers across the state through the NSW public library network
