Only one more week left of the Queensland school holidays :). Are you ready for the kids to go back to school?

Naplan results are back. If you happen to be disappointed with your child's assessment just remember it's one specific test on one specific day and their overall academic performance shouldn't solely be based on Naplan. Many students I have taught over the years 'stress out' on the day of the exams and haven't performed their best and I've never particularly paid that much attention to Naplan. I based their overall marks throughout a full, continous year of assessments :)

THE ULTIMATE SIGHT WORDS PACK with 40 fun activities, $45
* The entire pack includes 220 sight word flash cards with 40 fun and engaging activities to help with reading, spelling and writing. Suitable from Prep to Year 4.
Sight Words are commonly used words that children should instantly recognise by sight (without having to decode them). They are typically high frequency words that do not follow the basic phonics principles. Once mastered, children read more frequently, write with greater ease and spell more accurately.
While many children may learn to read Sight Words quickly, they often have difficulty spelling them correctly – particularly homonyms such as their, there, they’re and to, too and two. Explicit and repeated instruction is often needed to reiterate these words in spelling as they can be quite challenging to place in the correct context.

Spelling hint.....
'A lot' - is two separate words, just like 'a car' or 'a bed'.
