๐Another Busy Week at Ducklings Family Day Care! ๐
This week our little learners, aged 11 months to 4 years, have been busy exploring, creating, and building important life skills through play and everyday experiences.
We spent time learning about emotions and recognising alphabet letters using our posters, helping children develop early literacy skills, emotional awareness, and communication. Our real-life cash register play encouraged counting, turn-taking, problem-solving, and understanding everyday community roles.
Our newer children continued settling into our daily routines, building a sense of belonging, security, and confidence within our environment. We also welcomed Miss Trudy for her monthly inspection visit, ensuring our service remains safe, compliant, and a high-quality learning environment for all children.
Children explored their creativity and engineering skills with magnetic tiles, pop-its, whiteboard drawings, and a car table where roads were mapped out using sticky tape. These activities supported fine motor development, spatial awareness, imagination, and collaborative play.
Our community outing to Bunnings and a local walk around the park provided opportunities to connect with our wider community while exploring nature. We observed leaves, wildlife, and our environment, encouraging curiosity, observation skills, and an appreciation for the natural world.
The children's interests guided our learning through Go Danny and Captain America activities, dancing, and hat dress-ups. These experiences promoted physical development, self-expression, creativity, confidence, and social connections with peers.

Children's Voice & EYLF:
Today the children expressed a strong interest in Captain America and Go Danny, and their ideas were incorporated into our program through planned play experiences for today.
By following the children's interests and choices, we supported EYLF Outcome 1: Children have a strong sense of identity and Outcome 4: Children are confident and involved learners, recognising them as active participants in their own learning and decision-making. Lots of dancing teaching Miss Sara Go Danny dance moves. ๐บ๐๐ฏโโ๏ธ

๐ Our Week in Family Day Care ๐
What a busy and exciting week we've had!
This week we said a heartfelt goodbye to our wonderful friend Khayden. We wish Khayden and his family all the very best on their next adventure and thank them for being such a special part of our daycare family. ๐
The children explored our water sensory table using taps, cups and containers, developing hand-eye coordination, fine motor skills, problem-solving and an understanding of cause and effect. We also enjoyed building with magnetic tiles and experimenting with our spinning tower toy, encouraging creativity, spatial awareness and early engineering skills.
Outdoor play included helping to mow our artificial grass, caring for baby dolls, and taking turns using the Bumbo chair during imaginative play. These experiences supported responsibility, nurturing behaviours, communication and social development.
Our tunnel play encouraged children to crawl, explore and develop spatial awareness, body control and confidence in movement. We also enjoyed brushing our hair while looking in the mirror, promoting self-awareness, independence and self-care skills.
To celebrate World Sea Turtle Day, the children created and painted their own turtles and watched a short educational video to learn about these amazing ocean creatures. This experience encouraged creativity, environmental awareness and an appreciation of the natural world.โ๏ธ
Other favourite activities included wooden puzzles, dinosaur play, exploring junk mail and toy catalogues, and using our real-life cash register during dramatic play. These activities supported early literacy, problem-solving, numeracy, communication and imaginative thinking.
Our science experiment using PVA glue, food colouring and dishwashing liquid was a big hit as the children watched tree-like structures grow before their eyes! This sparked curiosity, observation skills and early scientific thinking.โ๏ธ
Today we celebrated World Picnic Day with a community outing to the park where we enjoyed morning tea with our peers. We were also excited to see the bin man, who gave us a special wave and clapped his bin clappers for us! Community experiences like these help children build confidence, social connections and an understanding of the world around them.โ๏ธ
